ehuonder
Enter the Dragon Theme now available for download!I have included the contents of both Logo packs 2 & 3 along with some recent additions and corrections not included in those packs. Please take a look and let me have your feedback regarding! Thanks!MikeDraco, Nice theme! By the way... I notice that you use Foreground and background images in themes... Do you know the actual item layering order for all of the theme 'widgets'? I haven't looked at it in a long time, but reverted back to just doing everything on the background image because the LIST widget was on top of the foreground image (we're talking early 10.xx versions). What advantages do you see in using foreground images? Thanks in advance for your opinion and thoughts.
Draco1962
The foreground images are a great way to apply a frame effect over the images (image and image2) in the themes. One thing I would like to see in the Theme Editor options (Yes, I will be putting in an Enhancement request for this!) would be to select in Theme Editor Options to use a default background image or default foreground image to simplify the theme creation process and eliminate the repetition and excessive size due to so many images.I will get back to your other questions later as I have a date with Doctor Who on BBC America to attend! Draco1962
The order from top to bottom of the images and various functional elements:- Top most layer contains Menu Bar, Weather Icon, Scroller, Up/Down Arrows, Media Controls, Window/Fullscreen sizer, List, Rating Pop-up- Foreground Image- Image, Image2 which displays logos, flyers, snaps, 3D Cabs, marquees, etc.- Background ImageHope this is helpful! ehuonder
Thanks for the reply Draco! That's exactly what I asking about... I'll have to add a feature request to have the List layer be selectable to above or below the Foreground image.
Hunk_4TH
Hey Draco, do you plan on making any console backgrounds for your Enter the Dragon theme?
Draco1962
Hey Draco, do you plan on making any console backgrounds for your Enter the Dragon theme? Not at this time. You can use the psd or xcf file provided and add your own image to appear in the orb, select the color for its background, etc. It will require that you have GIMP (for using the xcf fille) or Photoshop (for the psd file). Adultery
It's not really hard to do. Just takes a little time and finesse.
Draco1962
Once you've toyed with the psd / xcf a bit, I've really taken a lot of the guess work out of creating new foreground images specific to the emu or console/handheld that you may require! Tom Speirs
Giga Drive v1.2Theme Version: 4Resolution: Giga_Drive_HD looks good at any 16:9 resolution (16:10 also looks ok). Giga_Drive_SD is for 4:3 displays. This is the custom theme I made for my HTPC, "Giga Drive". It's probably slightly rough under some people's configs as I don't use a few of GameEx's features. The TrueType fonts under the "Fonts" folders also need to be installed for things to look as intended...Download Theme (13MB 7zip Archive)Hi, I really like this. Hunk_4TH
Quick question for Draco or anyone else who might know. I noticed in Draco's amazing Enter the Dragon theme he included an RRS feed ( at least I think that is what it is) I was wondering if it's possible to include this feature in some other themes such as Bluebox via theme editor?
Adultery
It is. I use it for BlueBox myself. You need to go into the theme editor and lay it out (I put it under the game list myself, you can shorten the length of the game list and put the RSS box under it). Then you save your theme. You can also put the weather on it using the same placement method. I put thaxt above BlueBox's version number and it looks great. All this is easy to do in the theme editor. To add your text and/or RSS feed you just select the 2nd tab in Theme Editor (it's either options or tools, I can't remember offhand),select scroller, select the page you want from the list on the right, and paste what you want in the box to the left. Make sure you save the text after each page.If you want to post the theme.ini on the main board I can do the cosmetics for you pretty easy. Draco1962
You are correct. In Theme Editor, you can add the RSS feed through the Scroller option. From there you will be presented with the GameEx areas and emulators so that you can tailor the feed to the screen (i.e. MameDev RSS feed for MAME Screens, Nintendo RSS feeds for Nintendo screens, GameEx RSS feed for Start screen, etc.). I believe that this feature is only available for themes > Version 1 so if the theme is a default theme, it may need to be up-converted to a newer version and saved as a separate theme. I think there is also a utility on the GameEx.com site that will also convert themes without having to load in Theme Editor, however, I have never used it. Adultery
Here's the new version of BlueBox, modded out and ready to roll. My cab is Mario themed, so the sounds and some of the images and logos reflect that. Besides being updated with GameEx's new background pages, weather and RSS features, I've made a ton of changes to the original theme. Also, all 52 custom emulator layouts and native GameEx pages take advantage of foreground overlays. You'll also find a set of secondary monitor static images for GameExtender for people who use this GameEx integrated feature. For added customization to fit your cab/HTPC, I've also included the following PSDs:Blank EmulatorXbox Controller LayoutGameExtender ImageThis theme does not use Popup Descriptions, but I put the line in the THEME.INI so you can easily add them if you so choose.Anyways, here's the snap of the main page (but it honestly doesn't do the theme justice IMHO):Here's a YouTube video of the theme in action: Be advised, it's a killer, weighing in at about 305 MB.Thanks to:GreatFlash for BlueBox v1.01,Draco1962 for his logo pack of which some are included in this theme, and the GameEx commmunity for all your help.Of course, a HUGE thanks to Tom for making such an awesome Front End for the cab that amazes all my friends and family, and Headkaze for all his wonderful programming skills and enhancements over the years I've been here.Questions or comments/feedback? Please post them in the release thread located here.Download it here!
