emphatic Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Hi Emph. I really like this. Will you be releasing 640x480 version as well ? Thanks. This is a V4 theme, so it should work well in 640x480. Actually, these screens were taken in window mode @ 480p, I only sized it up a bit because the fonts were hard to read in that tiny window. I'm gonna test it in one of my candy cabs tonight. Think I'll include a .psd file in this as well, for those who like busy themes and like to add another background. I'll release the theme soon, some more tweaking left to do first.Emph Quote

emphatic Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I really like the controller icons, good stuff Emph! Thanks, but the thing is that it's actually icons that I've found at Deviantart. I haven't created them myself. The author seems to be ok with people using them for emulator use though. http://deleket.deviantart.com/art/Gaming-Icons-Pack-42723812Does look really good within the theme anyway.Edit: Added a couple more screens.Emph Quote
seedbad Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I've made a widescreened theme entitled: WOOD. I run this on widescreen monitor, so I created this theme at 1600 x 1200. I love GameEx, and i wanted a 'warmer, retro-ish' environment. The theme is fairly large, with themed wooden logos and backgrounds for 37 systems (handhelds, consoles, MAME). Redone logos and icons to match. I'm also a complete newb with graphic applications, so pardon the 'amateurish-ness'. I'm adding a few screenshots and logos. I'll upload the theme sson, as I'm still adjusting a few items. It's fairly large due to 37 plus baks at 1600 x 1200. And yikes, this was a huge project. There were over 250 individual elements I 'woodified'. Quote
Tom Speirs Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 Just wanted to remind folks that I offer a free hosting and upload service for GameEx themes here:http://www.gameex.net/Download/Themes/tabid/94/Default.aspxJust click Upload Theme and follow the instructions.Thanks.Tom. Quote

emphatic Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 That wood theme is superb. If this is what you are able to do as a noob, I'm longing for your later work. Emph Quote

EmphI have known seedbad since high school and he has killed himself over this theme lol. I will also be using wood for some of my new pages on emumovies in a couple of weeks so there will be plenty of youtube demos too Quote
seedbad Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Wood - Widescreen Edition (1600 x 1200) is up on the themes page. For you Widescreen lovers. And for you Wood Lovers. I'm certain there are plenty of things I missed ( the scope of this was huge), so if anyone likes it and has any requests or fixes, let me know. later. Quote

Invincer Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Hi guys,I was loving some of the flashiness of HyperSpin, but not wanting to give up the styles and features and ease of use in GameEx. Wasn't really crazy about most of the themes available. So a few weeks ago I went about trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. Teach myself how to use Adobe Premier Pro and create a flashy theme with background avis and avi selections for categories. I used and borrowed from many places and created some things from scratch.Anyways, it isn't finished yet, but you can definitely see the style I am trying for. I made a preview video with fraps which came out humongous for a 17 minute file. Tried dubbing it down and then winraring it, but it is still 170 megs in a half size 50% quality video. Any suggestions on compressing it so people would have an easier time downloading it?Any suggestions would be appreciated. If people want me to upload to the themes section, I will be happy to when finished (depending on if there is a size limit, because it is big). It would include my custom menu mapping too since the categories take advantage of customization for grouping as well if you would want to use some of the avis. I would hope to have some testers first since it would be so big. For anyone downloading and viewing the TunnelVision theme preview, the theme itself is in 1024 x 768. In looking at the preview tell me what you like, what you don't like, what might need changing so far, etc...Thanks!I wouldn't want to kill Tom's bandwidth considering the file's size, so I uploaded the rarred avi preview to my website temporarily...TunnelVision Theme Preview Quote
Lawrence Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Impressive stuff, Invincer. I look forward to seeing the final theme. Quote
firebrand_X Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Very nice, Invincer! TunnelVision is the right word, this theme is a trip (in a good way). Well animated, I really dig it.I'm guessing the best way to compress the video is to use a codec like XVid or DivX in your AVI file. The only drawback is that people would need to have the codecs installed for the videos to display. But to be honest, I wouldn't worry about the file size that much. If people want a highly animated GameEx theme, they should expect a large file size, right? The only thing I can think of is to divide up the movie files for smaller downloads, like let people pick and choose what they want: A download for the main background, and a separate download for the other animations?Looks great though. Quote
Tom Speirs Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 Very impressive. I do currently have some capacity for hosting if you want to share the theme, and I can help compress any videos if needed. The server at http://gamesdbase.com is pretty much doing nothing, and I plan to move it to an unlimited bandwidth plan in about 9 months.Drop me an email if youd like to do that.In the meantime do you mind if I post this on youtube? Like I said its very impressive.Thanks.Tom Quote
Invincer Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Ah, thanks!Glad to see some folks liked it (especially GrandGameExMaster Tom himself!) Sure, you can put it on youtube or anywhere else you want to. I have made a couple changes and am continuing to work on it. Got a little sidetracked this weekend though when I updated my Video drivers and now my whole Windows desktop screen is about a cursor width too high and low and too far left and right from the edges. Irritating as all get out, but can't find a fix or anyone else with the prob. Using a 72" HDTV, and there is no TV vertical or horizontal resizers. Oh Well.. Finally getting my cab next week, that's the good news. The Theme is now a bit more detailed than you saw on the video, as there is a different tunnel for each of the animated areas (emulation, jukebox, videos, pictures, MAME, Daphne). It might be better to let you host it in pieces depending on how detailed people want to get with it... Maybe basic is the theme and background animation and pics and sounds. Then part two; multimedia video images for selection. Part 3, Basic Gaming video image selections. Part 4, gaming background animations (MAME, Daphne, Emulators). Part 5 Multimedia background animations (Videos, Jukebox, Pictures. Starting to work on the individual gaming video animation selections this week, that will be a project, but it could be released as add-ons if wanted if going this route. Otherwise, the whole thing will wind up being like a 2 gig download when it's finished...What are your thoughts or ideas?I have about 20 or so tunnel type HD animated backgrounds I am using here. What do you think of an idea of posting a video with about 5 seconds of each, and having votes for which ones people liked best to use in the theme? Just an idea... Quote
celly Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Well what I have isn't really a new theme, just my take on the Valhalla theme. These are just a few photoshop attempts Mrs. Celly and I came up with for a few emulator backgrounds. Feel free to use them if you like. Quote
