[RESOLVED] Fast computer Mame running SLOOOOOOW

Recommended Posts

Mame is running Ms. Pacman and Galaga so slow they are unplayable.  They run great outside of gameEx.  What do I do to get them to run properly?

I have GameEx version 15.04 running with Mame64

My computer specs are:

Windows 10 home edition

Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM)    16.0 GB

GameEx.ini is attached

Thanks

OK here is the log. Since posting the GameEx.ini. I have unistalled GameEx and mame three times so some settings may have changed, but the results are still that nothing runs at the correct speed.

Thanks in advance

I'm really not sure on this at all. Sorry.

Remote access software such as VNC and TeamViewer can cause slow downs like this when in use but otherwise I don't know.

You could also try increasing video memory in the BIOS.

when running mame / game in GameEx do a ctrl alt delete ( task manager ) and see if any other processes are hogging the CPU.

What MAME version? Does your ROM set version match the version of MAME you are running?

Yes rom versions match MAME.  I will try the ctrl atl del and look at the task manager.  I know there is some setting that allows the windows not to be full sized in both MAME and in gameEx I will find those and see. But honestly this laptop literally has zero software installed I have like word and excel.  I wanted to make this work here (on the lap top)  then I was going to buy a brand new nuc for a bar top cab and install it.

This was the task manager screen shot while the galaga was running. Nothing in the other tabs looked to be out of the ordinary. I do see GPU 0 and GPU 1 in the left column of the screen shot below not sure what those are.  I will double check video drivers

I figured it out, it was the two video drivers.  I have a laptop and it has an hdmi connection for an external monitor.  I had the setting to display BOTH screens on even with the lid closed.  Looks like the NDVIDIA video driver runs my external monitor and the Intel HD graphics 530 runs the lap top monitor. If I disabled either,  games ran great. I went under the windows display settings and told windows to only display screen 2 which is the external monitor and now I am up and running.

THANKS FOR EVERYONE RESPONDING.  As someone new here it is really helpful to have people who are willing to help
