Don't know how to setup epsxe in GameEX

I thought this would be simple but this is try #3 to get GameEX to be my media solution, though I have gone back to Kodi for everything but YouTube (PS3). When I go to verify the emulator is working, it says "No path found" , etc, etc.

I thought I understood how to set this up but I guess I don't. Any help is appreciated as I am seriously considering Big Box which is the HTPC version of Launchbox and since I have to pay for that it's either pay for GameEX or pay for Big Box.

Thanks

If it helps, here is a snap of my my basic config:

If you like tweaking things to you liking, GameEx is a good fit. If you just want things to work and want the program to just set things up, GameEx may not be your cup of tea. Myself, I like that I can make so many things exactly the way I want them to look. Understanding how dos-based command lines work is a huge help.

If my setup snap does not help, the gamex.ini and log.txt should lend a hand. Don't worry. You will get it running.

Thanks Red, that is how I had it setup. Under "Working Path", I pointed it to the emulation folder inside GameEX where I have epsxe installed (C:\GameEX\Emulation\epsxe\epsxe.exe) and working (works outside of GameEX). Iso files are located on a flash drive (and my server as well). Again that is where I pointed "Rom Path" (F:\Console Games\Sony Playstation) each game has it's own folder.

It is also enabled. When I exit setup, it doesn't appear in the GameEX emulator menu. I got Rom Collector Browser to work, it works the same way, point it where the emu is, where the games are, put in -nogui in command line and it works. The reason why I want to use GameEX is because the way Kodi works (though it might have changed, I haven't tried it) it won't load iso/bin files from my server, only from local drives. There is much more space on my server than on my HTPC, especially my newly rebuilt HTPC which got much smaller (Mini ITX) than before and eventually I will have a bunch of PSX games and other game images soon so I don't wanna buy another 1/2TB portable drive just to house games when my server has 8TB.

I will upload the txt and ini files later today.

On the second page of the emulation setup, check to see if you also have Scan Sub Folders enabled. Very important if they each have their own folder.

And if it matters, I have GameEx installed on my D-drive while all my emulation assets are stored on an external hard drive drive via an esata connection (F-drive) that I use for archiving and emulation.

On a side note. We usually suggest against installing emulators inside the GameEx folder. I honestly do not think it would cause any problem functionally, but you never know. When we look at configs and log files, it can see it being a bit confusing to find unexpected paths into the GameEx folder. Anyway, it's up to you how you want to organize your emulators and assets, but I thought I would mention it.  :)

Heres a pic of my config. I'm using cue/bin format, and need to have daemon tools lite installed, and the virtual drive set to something..in this case (V:)

Capture.PNG.6820cfd53216e5d6ce5d52605c9a34fc.PNG

You also need to add these statements in the "Launch Before" and "Launch After" lines

Launch Before: "C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTagent.exe" -mount_to V,"[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]"

Launch After: "C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTagent.exe" -unmount V

In ePSXe make sure you have "V:" selected as your drive.

@we1dont7die You know, you don't need to use deamon tools (but you can if you want to though). ePSXe can load images directly without the need to mount them. This includes a number of formats like iso and cue/bin. I read that it doesn't work when switching discs for multiple-disc games, but I have not really looked into that or tried to test it.

I started to post on my HTPC because that is where the log file is.

I took the last several suggestions from you and we1 and it now works. I changed the path after no gui, loanbin to ROMPATH/ROM etc. Then I enabled sub folder search; I also have Virtual Clone on my HTPC so I pointed it to the Daemon mounting exe and now the games I have tried work.

All my games are listed but so are the smaller flies I guess I need to use the filter?

 Thanks for the help.

Last I heard (years ago) the built in image mounting in GameEx only supported iso format. I made a few posts about it even back then and received help with workarounds from forums admins. If cue support has been added I'd be happy to give it a try, even though im actually very happy with how daemon tools works. The trick is finding the proper command line.

EDIT: sorry I thought you were talking about gameex virtualdrive support for some reason. either way,  i find it easier to have the daemon tool solution across the board with my images as they're all bin/cue anyway.

@we1dont7die  I guess I wasn't so clear. ePSXe supports loading isos and cue/bin itself without the need for a virtual drive program like Daemon tools. You just load the iso directly. GameEx doesn't do anything with the virtual drive with that setup. The "-loadbin" parameter from ePSXe  is what makes it work. The drawback is that if you want to swap discs for games like FF7 (3 discs), it sounds like you do need a virtual drive or the actual discs for that.

I just wanted to mention it in case you were interested and was not aware. There aren't many multi-disc games I care to play, so the direct load works for me.The only wrong way to set it up is if it doesn't work for you.  :)
