Configure Joystick - Diagonal Controls?

Hi

I loaded up my fav game of all time last night, Street Fighter II!!

I'm using the competition pro usb joystick http://www.afterhours.co.uk/speedlink-competition-p-420.html

To my horror lol i couldnt do any diagonall moves, ie special moves - can this be configured in mame?

I couldn't really tell by looking at the webpages, but the stick may only be a 4-way. If thats true, there's no way to do diagonals. If the stick isn't 4-way, then you can configure it to go diagonally. While in a game, hit the [TAB] key and go to the option "Input (general)". Once in there, go to "Player 1 Controls". The diagonals you'll want to set are:

P1 Right/Up

P1 Right/Down

P1 Left/Up

P1 Left/Down

Sounds similar to the problem I was having with the POV hat on my joystick. To make the POV hat go into the diagnol axes it was impossible to make it go directly into the corner. It had to go into either the X or Y axes then slide to the corner. Sadly there was nothing I could do to fix this(without taking the darn thing apart). But hey, I bet your controller would be great for pac man!
