If I want to run 9.2.1 version of VP for some specific tables only, I tried to use alternativeexe. This works in principle, but when launching 9.2.1 with system type "Visual Pinball", it does not load tables correctly. I get an error from VP "could not create front buffer". If I then load the table again from that same VP instance, it works fine.

This does not occur when launching 9.2.1 outside of pinballx, or when using VP 9.9.3 or when configuring VP 9.2.1 as a "custom" type system in PinballX. However, when using an "custom" type system there is no nice way to exit out of VP in a way that it returns to PinballX.

If anyone has a clue to fix issue (either the not being able to exit when VP is set as a "custom" system or the load error with 9.2.1), that would be great :D

Also, but more FIY as I can work around it; I have some problems with Future Pinball, if I configure pinballx with system type "Future Pinball". Load screen is behind pinballx, pinballx stays minimized in tray after exit, etc. If I use Future Pinball with a "custom" system configuration it all works fine.

So the fails-to-launch show the VP editor with the "front buffer" error dialog, when I exit pinballX. The cannot-exit-vp files use the "custom" system setting, in which case it plays fine but the "exit simulation" button will not stop VP (it does return to pinballx menu though). I assume PinballX does something special to stop VP when the system type is "Visual Pinball"

Ok, it seems that the error with launching VP9.2.1 is caused by fullscreen mode of PinballX. When setting to windowed it will launch the game correctly, except that all playfields are then launched behind PinballX view
