Ragnar
Having some trouble with getting anything to launch from game ex. I have all my emulators set up and working. They open the games etc.. but when I try to launch from game ex I can't get any of them to work. I have set up all the paths and the on I am working on right now is Nestopia. RedDog
Hi Ragnar, Please post your GameEx.ini and log.txt files (attachments would be preferred). They can be found in the GameEx/CONFIG and GameEx/LOG directories. I use nestopia and it works just dandy. The first thing to check is that your GameEx config matches the pathing and file names of the emulator and roms. Please also post the paths to your Nestopia executable and roms. For example: E:\Emulation\Nintendo_NES\Nestopia-1.41.1-(unofficial-x86)\nestopia.exe E:\Emulation\Nintendo_NES\Roms Next, what format are your rom files in (ie are the extensions .nes or .zip)? Draco1962
I think if you search for " Launcher: database file "launcher.xml" not present" you will find your answer on various sites regarding this error for Nestopia and a solution.

RedDog
Hey Ragnar, Without the GameEx.ini, troubleshooting is a lot more difficult. The file is pretty easy to find if you know where GameEx was installed and if Windows is not hiding is, so please try again. Find where GameEx was installed to on your PC. Inside the GameEx folder is a CONFIG folder. Inside thge CONFIG folder, you will find the GameEx.ini file. Depending on how your PC is set to display files, it may be simply called "GameEx". If you still cannot see it, do a little searching on the internet on how to make files on your PC visible. If you do not have a GameEx.ini file to offer for the time being, take a snapshot of the nes configuration in GameEx (like below). A snapshot won't be anywhere as helpful, but maybe we can get you pointed in the right direction. Then, once you have Nestopia running in GameEx, hopefully it will give you what you need to get some of your other emulators working. Also, we would still need to confirm the directory paths to nestopia and the roms so we cna be sure you have configured GameEx correctly (as I had commented above). Lastly, the log shows GameEx trying to extract something from "C:\Emulation\Emulators\Nestopia\Fullset roms\.rar". Your roms aren't archived into a single rar file, are they? For example, this is a snapshot from my nestopia for page 1 of the Emulator Setup:
Draco1962
This is just my opinion, but I would strongly recommend not having anything under C:\Users\ . This is usually a protected area as is anything under C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) and can cause problems, especially if you have multiple users on the same machine.

RedDog
#1: Put quotes around [ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE] in the command line #2: Change the Zip/7-Zip/Good/Merge/RAR parameter under Advanced Emulator Setup to No #3: I strongly agree with @Draco1962 that placing any assets in a user folder is not a good idea If it is still not working, please repost another GameEx.ini and log.txt after the attempt. Draco1962
Also, please do not copy and paste your log.txt file! Attach it like you did for your gameex.ini file. Some of us may respond to your thread via smartphone and all the scrolling is killing me, Smalls!
Ragnar
Thanks for your help everyone. The " marks did the trick. I have moved everything from the users folder. I am down to just few more quirks and then I should be good to go. Mame shows the the bezels from the actual arcade which in turn makes my game play tiny on the screen, I would like to know what to change to make that go away. NES and SNES open emulators and load games, but I still see the emulator. If I check the hide desktop all I get is a black screen that I can't exit out of. Finally the N64 emulator will not load rom. If says that it was a failed attempt to load rom, but I can load it straight from the emulator and everything works. Any ideas would be great. RedDog
Glad you made some headway on NES. Getting one emulator to work in through GameEx does make getting others working a bit easier. Normally, we ask that you create one thread for each issue (or group of issues if they are related). It can get confusing when we start talking about multiple issues in the same thread. Please do this for N64 and the Hide Desktop issues and include the files like you did just above. Thanks . As for the other questions, I think this will help. Different emulators have different settings. Sometimes you have to hunt them down, but I happen to use both Nestopia and Snes9x. MAME BEZELS: There is an option under Advance Mame Settings called Use Bezel. NESTOPIA FULL SCREEN: I believe this command line will get you what you want:Nestopia.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" -video fullscreen There is also an option in Nestopia under View > Show > Menu/Dialog that needs to be unchecked. SNES9X FULL SCREEN: ...and this one for SNES9x:snes9x-x64.exe -fullscreen "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" There is an option in SNES9x under Video > Hide Menubar that should be checked.
