This is probably a totally newbie question. I am just getting bacl into MAME after about 10 years. My gaming machine crashed and I just never rebuilt it.

I have a SlikStik quad machine. The 4 player controls all seem to be mapped properly in mame.

I tried to use the search functionality. I have enabled custom keyboard input and Player 1 joystick is mapped to the arrow keys which matches the keyboard inputs. Cab Control friendly is off. No matter what I do, I can only move the cursor up or down.

Also, if I go ahead and type a search term in through the keyboard, I can't submit the search. Hitting the Enter key doesn't work.

This seems like it should be easy.

Anyone have any ideas?
