Hi guys,
I have been fortunate enough to be able to purchase a pre-built 3 screen Pinball Cab - it has tables etc installed and runs through Pinball X but as a Techy I like to play - and I want to learn how to add/update tables etc.

I have tried to add a few but cannot get them to work, either the screens dont work (mainly the DMD) or there are script errors when I run the table - I have all the LEDWIZ installed but again, nit quite sure how to set it up yet.

I have created an account here to download media packs etc, but on the FTP it says my password is invalid, even though its the same password I use for this forum, and of course this works ;)

Any help, links, info etc would be greatly appreciated.

The guy I bought it from has been very helpful but he is away until Sunday, and seems as tomorrow I am off work, I thought it would be good to spend a day sorting it :)

Just an example, I updated Attack from Mars VPX 1.1.0 to 1.1.1 but it gave errors, so I changed it back to the 1.1.0 and now that gives script errors - I am hoping this is something simple to fix?

Thanks in advance

Hi Draco
I cant even access them to upload mate, I have no problem paying for the download service, IF I can log on lol
It says my password is incorrect

Ok, I will have dinner and then come back and upload the relevant files ;)

I have looked at the error on Attack from Mars 1.1.0 and I think it might be LEDWIZ, but tbh, I am guessing, but the error is on lines 1026 (Case 4 a state) and Line 704 ABS State
Thanks

I think you may be using an incorrect port. See this post. For basic Members, the correct port is 22.  Per the line below, looks like you are using port 21:

Okay, so based on the info above, you are storing the VPT tables and VPX tables in the same folder.  This is okay as long as you don't name the vpx files the same as vpt files

You probably have the following files:
Attack From Mars.vpt
Attack From Mars.vpx

18:46:45.5  20/05/2016:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Visual Pinball\VPinballX.exe /play -"C:\Program Files (x86)\Visual Pinball\Tables\Attack From Mars.vpt

From your log above you are trying to play the VPX version of Attack From Mars "VPinballX.exe" but PinballX is finding the vpt file, Attack From Mars.vpt, first, instead of Attack From Mars.vpx and trying to start the vpt file with VPX.  And it fails...

You have 2 options:

Rename the Attack From Mars.vpx to something unique like Attack From Mars VPX.vpx or Attack From Mars 1.1.1.vpx and update the VPX XML file (either use the Game Manager or modify the xml file)

or

Move all your .VPX files into a new folder like C:\Program Files (x86)\Visual Pinball\Tables\VPX\ and modify the PinballX settings VPX table path

HI guys

sorry for the late reply, had a bit of bad news over the weekend and it went a bit manic

I have spoken to the guy I bought it off and he has gone through what was wrong, it was the call to the backglass in the script, so that's all working now and I have managed to add my first table - I have downloaded the media for Pinball X and its all working great (the video for the DMD was actually corrupt off the FTP, so used one off the VP( version and imported it, and its working fine - BUT....
I am missing the backglass in the game - its the .directB2S file
Is there a repository for those?

Thanks again for your help and guidance :)

Posted

Can you tell us what DMD video was corrupt on the FTP and the path on the FTP for it? Also, you should only have upload capability to the FTP as a Basic Member. Thanks!

Posted

Hi, it was for the Indiana Jones VPX Table (Stern 2008 version) - cant remember the exact file as I deleted it

It turned out the guy who built me the table also bought a 1 year member ship so he could set it up properly  ;)

BTW, I have found the files on a different site but I assume they will be on the FTP server too somewhere?

Posted

No, on the FTP there is basically just media files and some custom scripts for use in the PinballX front-end.

For any tables, directb2s backglasses, pinball software/emulators/tools/editors, you will have to go to other sites. Here's a couple:.

@skpManiac

Good luck with your new cab. Check out the other sites like Carny pointed out. I would also add vpinball.com and pinball nirvana to the list.

Also check out Draco's wheel images it really dresses up the machine.

As for a paid membership.

Its up to you most sites like this are run at a loss as a hobby and I expect this site not to be any different.

This is the best front end I've used so I looked at my membership as a donation with benefits.

Thanks guys, appreciate the links - on 2 of them sites already :)

I will definitely pay for a lifetime membership once my 12 month has expired - I donate to pretty much every site I use, if I enjoy the benefits from the site :)

I love the PinballX front end, just wish it tied my FTP account to the search online option and found the stuff on the FTP, but I know that's a lot of code lol

For now I am happy, the Cab is working and I know how to add tables now, so got 197 tables running - I need to update a few so that's this weeks challenge :)

I own a Computer company, so if I can help out in anyway with 2nd user parts or software help, just give me a nudge
Regards
