can you change the categories of games?

sick of the million and one categories... can i delete/change some to sports, shoot-em-up, blah blah... or are we stuck with what we are given?

this applies to most emulators...but mame is the biggest culprit.

maze/ fighter

errr no.. i just want fighting games altogether! ;)

I may be speaking blind here, but have you tried simply editing the \GameEx\DATA\EMULATORS database file?

I just popped open one of the files in Access and can easily see the section where catagory is defined. A simple search & replace function should be able to go through and simplify the catagories for you.

Just make sure you back them up, so when you install the next version of gameex, they aren't overwritten and returned to their default state.

ta... seems to be a bit strange thou.

example...Beetle Adventure Racing! i've put as simply 'racing' yet it comes under action, adventure, racing!! also some racing games are under sport etc... basically it all goes tits up. confusing
