Hi All,

I tried the Soul Calibur theme a couple of weeks ago and it was animated. I went back to the default theme and a couple of Gameex upgrades later i change my theme back to soul Calibur. The theme opens up as a background but there is no animation. I have looked through the config options and the .ini file for a enable animation option and cannot find it.

I am using Gameex 6.19 and dotnet 2.0

Anyone know how to get the animation working ?

Thanks

You need Codecs to play the videos, maybe you uninstalled them?

I recommend http://ffdshow.sf.net for your codec needs. Its free, legal, and fast.

Hi Tom,

Hmm, tried about 5 different codecs, no way, no how will the avi run (Although i can run the AVI's from within windows itself). tried for about 5 hours and give up. I even used an old ghost image of my PC and tried that. I think its broke

thanks for the reply though

Installing codec after codec is not a good idea. You should go into add/remove programs and remove all the codecs you have installed and then install ffdshow only.

THanks for the help.. Still no go. I trashed the computer.. installed xp pro sp2, dotnet 1.1, directx 9.0c. brand new release of gameex, unzipped the soul calibur file, selected it and no go.. (also downloaded ffdshow, and no other codecs) avi files play when when double clicking them. Its got me puzzled. I hate it when i cant figure it out especially as i'm an IT Tech. there are no hardware conflicts, no old registry setings that could interfere with this new installation and i didnt import anything fro m the old installation. One thing i notice is when i am in theme picker and i select the Soul Calibur theme there is no icon that appears when i select it, all other themes show an icon. I can't remember if it did show an icon when it worked a few weeks ago.

Any other suggestions besides beating the computer with a big sstick. (I'm tempted)

THanks

Here are a few suggestions...

1. Run Windows Media Player, select Help->Check For Player Updates... and get the latest version

2. Double check Add/Remove programs for any codecs and remove them (including ffdshow) and reboot

3. Download the latest daily build of ffdshow and install it.

4. Run the ffdshow config Start->Programs->ffdshow->Video decoder configuration. Check that your MPEG4 decoder is set to libavcodec.

5. Double click the bak.avi video file in the Soul Calibur directory. In WMP click File->Properties. Does it say the Video codec is "ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder"?

6. If GameEx still won't play video, I would back up you GameEx directory, delete the current GameEx directory, then install a new version and try the Soul Calibur theme. Does it work? (You can always overwrite it with your backed up version later)

Thanks for the help Headkaze.. still no AVI running, I followed all steps and everything checked out in step 5.

By any chance has the files been rezipped and mabbe either missing files or corrupt data somewhere. i didnt keep the original zip file and redownloaded it. the file downloads great and seems to unzip with no errors. The themes directory size unzipped is 53,723,926 (BTW, i also tried in my other computer and same results.. Definately a teaser and a hair puller

thanks

Kipper.
