Hey guys, trying to configure a goodmerged rom set. Each rom is in .7z format, which my nintendo emulator (fceux) can recognize as a rom. Only problem is i'm prompted with which version of the rom (U), (E), (J), (HACK). Any way to issue a command to select the .7z archive, then to automatically launch the (U) version?? Please say so, because I need to locate either a different set or unzip each game individually and use the rom filter.

Not really, no. Unfortunately not many GoodMerge users out there these days (most cabs are lan and mean when it comes to rom collections). GameEx will always ask you to select a file if there is more than one in the archive.

Like in most cases (certainly mine) I only want games people can and will play. It doesn't make sense to have every game in every region for every emulator. Because of this my games are trimmed down to a manageable amount and based off of NoIntro where possible (or hand picked if we're taking about a system that didn't offer something similar).

But I do keep a GM set too, just archive it and not for use in my cabinet.

MAME of course is the exception here, but I do some heavy manual filtering there.

I'd rather have 150 quality NES ROMs than 15k that will never get touched. But that's me. :)

That's what I'm after. I want the catelog in US region only. I can't see unzipping all of these files and picking out the (U) version. Would take FOREVER.

Right, that's why you should snag a NoIntro set instead.

Then with the Map File Maker you can easily sort and remove the extra regions and then build your rom set off the Map File. ;)
