24th May, 2006 - GameEx 6.17

GameEx now features 7-ZIP GoodMerge support!

Fixes issues with Most Played

Fixes Emulator game information page sometimes not showing information from database when setting to remove brackets not used.

Added additional 3 emulators slots in the configuration application

Should hopefully fix auto update loop because of caching

thanks i gameex found the update before i saw this post :) update system is saving so much copying around its fantastic - only concern is if something got broken (for a particular system) and people go to switch on the machine and apply that update, there is no way to back out without a geek (i.e. me) present. but cant think of any way around that without turning off the update really.

perhaps a more subtle update icon that i would see but no one else would?

you know what would look great?

having a screen that tells you what the changelog is, either before the upgrade or after.

just a thought.

You could go into "News" and Select the "GameEx News" feed.

??

or an option to disable visual update indicator and instead have a keyboard shortcut to look for updates - something like CTRL+U? this should be in feature requests right?

Yep feature requests, but an option to turn it off is enough for me to be happy with.

can this be installed over previous versions i.e 6.00 without any issues?

Q: How do I upgrade my version of GameEx, and not mess up my settings?

A: If you are upgrading GameEx from an earlier version, you don't need to uninstall first, and your settings shouldn't be lost. Although make sure you backup any media files you have replaced with your own..

Tom, just a quick FYI

When upgrading to 6.17 my gameex.ini got changed again, losing 5 emulators from 26 to 21.

Can you post or send me the ini (after this happens). Thanks.

Note to Kanal and all, the majority of users never get problems when upgrading.

This should deffinitly be fixed in 6.18 now available.

This may or may not be associated with this build exactly. However, whenever I get a new upgrade, it seems like none of my rom's play right. It looks like whenever I upgrade to a new version of GameEx, I have to re-update the games list in order for GameEx to recognize their locations. Is this something that I've just suddenly discovered, or is it just that way because that's how it has to be?
