sms2169 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Hi with one of the new updates to gameex my Mame prompts me to update the game list even with this feature turned off in the setup wizard. There is only the one place to turn that feature on and off I just don't want my kids messing with it plus it takes forever when it does update thanks
Draco1962 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I can attest to this occurring on my setup last night. Can you provide copies of your gameex.ini and log.txt files please? Thanks!
DazzleHP Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Hi there,Just to clarify some things: Is the actual menu entry "Update List" appearing (in the MAME List), or are you just seeing a prompt to Update List (similar to Update GameEx prompt)?Sometimes the Update List prompt will appear when you change certain options in MAME Settings, regardless if the option is set to hide or not. Commonly if you changed working or rom paths (and sometimes if you alter the commands). If so, letting it update will usually resort it back to the desired behavior and won't be seen again (provided you don't alter MAME Settings anymore )
Draco1962 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 It displayed the MAME Update List prompt in the lower right of the screen for me upon opening GameEx 14.33 at the main menu. No recent changes in paths or other MAME related options.
Draco1962 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I have since updated to 14.34. I have seen this occurence before and only once since the changes due to MAME+MESS .
DazzleHP Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I've seen this happen in previous versions too, but once you let it Update List it will behave as intended afterwards. I suspect it is a cache issue that occasionally gets overlooked in some updates, or just simply needs to recreate them to be compatible.EDIT - Either that or there were enough changes in the database(s) to warrant a refresh.
Draco1962 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 You could be right. I really love it when programmers do something that makes sense. Making a MESS out of MAME doesn't IMO.
sms2169 Posted August 9, 2015 Author Posted August 9, 2015 Yes I let it update again and restarted computer and seems to be back to normal thank you
