Hi All

I have a few issues I hope you can help with ?

Ok so I have configured Pinball x to work with Pinball FX2 ( sortov )

I added lots of videos from FTP site for each of my tables ( southpark Star wars etc) these show when pinball x boots as a background to each game

I added wheel pictures

So a few things......... I have 48 table on my version of Pinball FX2 Pinball x only shows 29 and displays down the bottom 29 it says tables installed and I can only see 29 of my 48 tables in the pinball x front screen why is this

All my paths are right etc

Also I have my Videos in desktop folder and they show when Pinball x boots up but with no sound??

And finally when I start a game in Pinball x menu it then boots up Pinball FX2 and show the main menu then you have to choose your table again and when you quit that table you have to go back to pinball x screen and boot another game then it loads Pinball fx2 ( Again ) then you choose you game again etc.( very long winded )

Can I start a table on Pinball FX2 directly from Pinball x without the system having to load Pinball fx2 and then me having to choose my table again ?

I hope you understand and I hope someone can help me ?

Thanks

Hi - I moved your thread to the General forum as it is not a media project. :)

Please provide copies of your pinballx.ini and log.txt (Click here for additional information on how to find these files and others that may be required) so we can take a look at your basic settings and log information. Zip a copy of your Pinball FX2.ixml file and attach it as well in your reply to this post. This can be found in the \PinballX\Databases\Pinball FX2 folder.

My guess (which is why I am requesting these files) is that the media and some of your game file entries are not matching the file names referenced by Pinball FX2 and Steam. You can try changing File Matching in the Setup program to No, restarting PinballX to see if more games show up and the sounds are enabled, however, it is good practice to ensure they are named correctly.

To know what to name the game files in the Game Name field for each game via Game List Manager, you will need to locate them in \steamapps\common\Pinball FX2\data_steam folder. You do not need to name the file with the .pxp extension.

I use File Matching in the Setup program set to Yes. What happens then is PinballX will use whatever name you put in the Description field of Game List Manager as the name to match with your media. This will require you to rename your media files (i.e.,., audio, backglass, DMD videos, Wheel images, etc.) to match.

Either way, you have some work ahead of you, but you will like the results once finished.

ok so I understand the Naming and I can add more tables now the Pxp and the whell and the videos all need to be named the same ??

I still have no sound on Video on 1st screen of pinball x ?? any idea ?

what is the difference in table videos and table desktop videos ? BTW ??

Any folder labeled desktop is a horizontal (or landscape) orientation. this is for those that run PinballX in a home theater or standard desktop PC view. The ones without Desktop in the name are for pincabs where the display is set to vertical or portrait orientation.

As for the sound, not sure at this point, but lets get you all set with the Pinball FX2 running right & smoothly first.

I also need your pinballx.ini file. Just attach in reply.

Also, I am attaching my pinball fx2.xml file. You may want to rename yours and put mine in place of it. It will mean renaming your image and audio files to match the Description, but in the long run, you will be better off for it.

So do the Video files have to be in media player or vlc format etc could that be the problem ?

Also my wheel images don't rotate to 90 when I set the table to vertical mode

Thanks

All the more reason why we need your pinballx.ini file from your \pinballx\config folder!

You're welcome. Did you purchase your version of Pinball FX2 from Steam or are you running a non-Steam version?

Posted

It appears to be a non-Steam version from what I can see in the pinballx.ini file. Of course, your brother-in-law would be able to confirm for certain. I was thinking that you had purchased it recently from your post in the other thread. I will try to help if I can with this but I may need to defer to some of those more experienced with configuring for the non-Steam version if I am not successful.

I am ok with most of it now I just need to get the sound working and be able to start a game without loading Pinball fx2 everytime

Sound on videos in men is most important

It might help to know where your tables for Pinball FX2 are stored on your system so we can guide you in the proper settings to pull the individual tables. If you can, please provide the folder path. Also, it might help to know the table file names for each table in your collection.

Once this is all sorted, then we can progress to making sure you have the audio files for each table in your collection named correctly.

Ahhhh

Do they audio files not play from the video ?

Do I need to download audio as well ?

When I go onto the FTP and look at audio there is only Captain America in there and no others

Some videos have sound, others do not. Depends on the source. The most complete set I found for audio, video, etc., is by Time299. These are part of his NukeLauncher for Pinball FX2 project. While it isn't necessary to install NukeLauncher to run Pinball FX2, he does have an excellent set of media for Pinball FX2 for those that make a donation. I personally use most of the files he has created as they are quality. Definitely worth throwing a few $ his way.

Now ......

Does pinball x always need o boot up Pinball fx2 or can I select a table then go straight back to pinball x menu

Also when pinball fx2 boots it start game as soon as I clink then and the menu jumps all over the place as if I have a poltergeist keyboard

anyone know why

Thanks though Cantankerous you da man ! :P

What is likely happening is PinballX is still utilizing the old built-in method of selecting the tables which, if you are using the pinball fx2.ini file I provided, it is going through a grid to calculate where to select the table.

I have attached a copy of your PinballX.ini file after adding "[TABLEFILE]" to the Parameters field. Rename the pinballx.ini file to pinballx.ini-old in your \pinballx\config folder. Click OK at the file warning. Download and copy the file I have attached to the same folder and run PinballX and report back with the results. Thanks!
