Hi guys,

Im having quite the time trying to get pretty much any emulator running in gameex

Ive looked through the forum for help, but I'm missing something daft  and need some kind help.

Ive tried a few Emus, but like I said, there is something I just dont get.

  1. I can get the roms running in the individual emu's.
  2. MAME works fine through gameex
  3. Ive had a hit and miss effect getting roms to show up in their lists

Turbo gfx - ROMS list is fine, roms dont boot

NES - Showing Snes roms list (tried them anyways, dont boot)

SNES - ROMS list fine, roms dont boot

Genesis - Showing Snes roms list (tried them anyways, dont boot)

Master System -ROMS list fine, roms done boot

For those looking through the ini's

4.All of my ROMs are on my 'B' drive (B\Arcade) (except for the SNES roms which I moved to the "C" Drive in a bid to get them to work in the EMU's folder

5. All of my Emus are on my C Drive (C\Users\PC\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators)

If anyone could steer me in the right direction, that would be awesome.

Thanks in advance!

Kev

One thing to add, do I go into Gameex's emulator configs to manually set the rompaths?

Some of the emus, I could not see the games in the list until I this (also by doing this, I've ended up with multipole emus showing the SNES roms)

I don't run many of the emulators via GameEx but there are plenty that do. One place that should be your first stop is this post in the thread for User Submitted Map Files, Congis, and Databases. Some emulators will rely on map files to properly display the names of some of your ROM files.

You may also wish to provide a copy of your gameex.ini and log.txt file so we can have some additional settings information to work with that these files provide.

Draco, thanks for the swift reply.

I did have a look through those threads.

I'm not getting the relationship between the command lines & the paths themselves.

How much needs to be modified in the configs to set the correct paths, and what conflicts in the game emulator wizard must I look out for?

Cheers

Without the program in front of me, off the top of my head, there really shouldn't be much. You add the emulators in the add emulators screen in gamex settings,Then in emulators setup, enable it.. Enter a name for it to appear as on your menu, the working path should be set to the folder for your emulators exe, and the rom path should go to that emulators rom folder. That actually, should be it. I did notice there are settings in the command line field such as "fceux.exe "[rompath]\[romfile]" but I think that gets populated when the emulator runs with whatever settings you set within the actual emulator

I highly recommend using RocketLauncher (formerly HyperLaunch) via GameEx to launch your emulators. Check over on there site for more info or look here as I posted on how to setup via GameEx.

It has a ton of features that adds to the GameEx experience and it will work with any frontend.

Good Luck

Hi Kev,

I don't see anything catastrophic with your setups, only that you are running your emu's and roms from the desktop. Depending on OS and the settings you have may be causing permission issues. I'm leaning toward this because your commands look fine at a glance. I see you are running W7, which implements UAC to some extremes. If you haven't changed this yourself, i suspect this is causing your issues.

Try moving your Emulators and Roms to the root of your drive, failing that try temporarilly disabling UAC in Windows just to see if it makes a difference :)

One thing missing I noticed is your RomFilter option is blank. You need to enter the file extension (example):

NES: RomFilter= *.NES

SNES: RomFilter= *.SMC

ect ect.. If they are zipped (7z,zip,rar....)

NES: RomFilter= *.zip;*.NES

SNES: RomFIlter= *.zip;*.smc

try that and see what happens.

All good now :)

I went into my game config, and it didn't look right, my emulator numbers, and where they were physically when going through the wizard, or when run in gameex didn't match up. I figured this may have been the issue where I was seeing the wrong emulators roms.

I tried to modify the game config, by stripping one emu out at a time, and kept testing, no real success.

I tried working from a default gameex config, no success.

In the end I uninstalled, started again.

I added the emulators onto the same drive as the roms

With a lot more care this time I added one emulator at time through the wizard, and tested.

Never had to modify of the emu's config files, left the path values as per the wizard & what I set in the emu itself.

Not sure where I went wrong yesterday, my guess is trying to do too much at once without real care :)

Anyways, Im back on track; have all my usual suspects up and running on my cab again, now looking to add emulators that I'm not too familiar with now, so will no doubt be picking your brains again soon.

Thanks guys

Kev

Glad you got it all sorted! We will mark this as resolved. Please start a new thread with any questions or issues (one per system if possible). Thanks!
