CHANGES TO THE LAYOUT

this is a complete structure change that i would love to

see implemented into gameEX , i think it is more

intuitive , direct and has better wording making

the gameEX experience clear and more fluent.

i have thought about the order everything should

go in as well , so this should stay.

i really would love to see this structure in place.

there isnt a PC APPS dir/ but i dont think gameEX should

be a true alternitive to windows , the apps should run in

the background, something that would be cool would be

space for ventrillo and gamespy and mabe a few other

choice gaming progs.

i would love to know what you guys think of this setup.

Personally, I dislike it. I only use gamex for games.

As a MAME cabinet I have no use for internet and multimedia. As it stands I already have to go in and siable all the auxillary stuff to make my main menu a bit cleaner and more game oriented.

I do like the idea of a config page however, especially if it is possible to hide it and access it through a hidden key combination or something.

Since your idea would obviously benefit certain users, maybe it could be implemented as an option.

ie) you can choose whether or not you want a game-oriented gameex or the "ful on" gameex.

The setup sounds good to me - like eXo said though, I like it the way it is since my primary use is for games... not internet or multimedia. I use this app for my PC and my cab, so it'd be cool to have a different menu on the PC that's more computer friendly, but the cab's main objective is to play games.

I figure we got us a pretty nice little FE to use (if not the best FE), and I'd hate to see it undergo any kind of reconstruction. Hard to fix something that's already working.

i do see your points about the gaming aspect and that

multimedia options are not required for cabs.

i my self dont have a cab , tho i want to get one

in the future , i use my tv and im in the process

of building a new small desktop style pc for under the

tv and all of these functions are ideal for a quick glance

at email ,news and choice websites as well as the superior

dvd and hd movie playback from a tv , and theres always

space for music regardless of setup.

tom had already implemented a full and light install

for gameEX and i think the points that you guys brought

up about a pre setup for games and one for multimedia

is a great idea.
