I apologies in advance if this is the wrong spot. According to this post, we should just ask our questions because there likely isn't an answer already available. I'm very new to this community and project though I've been eyeing Hyperspin and GameEx projects for a while now.

My goal is to create a very clean, basic interface that allows me to launch my media and emulated games with my HTPC setup. I started off with the Default - Hybrid Blue 2011 theme as it's very easy on the eyes and looks like a typical DVR frontend from the cable company.

Item #1: I want to swap out a few base images. I understand each ROM and Emulator has an image, but those aren't what I'm looking to update. The icon that displays on the home screen is some sort of droid to indicate "Emulated Games." I can't find this file or where to change the title of this menu item.

Item #2: I need to move or resize the display the pops up after a game item has been highlighted. This box displays after about 5 seconds to show some extra information. Very cool, but it covers other text and looks glitchy. How do I use Theme Editor to just move this over? Apparently Theme Editor wants me to convert this theme to version 4?

EDIT: It's not letting me embed the images so I attached them...

I am not at my home PC to confirm the name, but look under \gameex\themes\YOUR THEME NAME\media\logos and the filename is either emu.png or allemu.png .

You will need to create a theme and reference the one you are intending to use/change -or- convert the theme to version 4 and save it as a unique theme name. That being said, you can then go into theme editor's Options menu and deselect the "Display Popup Description" option, then save the theme. Hope this is of help.

I dug around in this directory and couldn't find it. I found icons that are similar in "look-and-feel" so I was a little surprised this particular icon wasn't available.

Anyone have instructions on how to convert a theme? I'm sorry if it's really simple, I promise I tried to figure it out...

EDIT: I might have figured it out. I'll keep playing with it using the trial-and-error method...

Just select Create a New Theme when you load Theme Editor, navigate to the theme.ini file in the folder of the theme you are wanting to modify, and select Version 4. Again, you will need to give the theme you are working with a unique theme name.

This worked! I kept getting an error about only opening version 2 and version 4 themes. I don't know what I did differently but so far, so good. The popup doesn't occur anymore (I may add it later once I get comfortable moving things around).

I'm playing with images now. I still haven't figured out how to edit menu names

Your "menu names" will be what ever you put as Start Page Name, and/or Title Text.

You can remedy this by going back through all your emulator setups and changing accordingly, or, you can make use of custom menus, get it done in 5 mins, with the menus you want. Just saying :D

Excellent suggestion. I couldn't figure that tool out at first so I gave up. Your guide is great. Thanks!
