Hi guys,

Im having a bit of a problem with the Zinc emulator, it is running 100% fine no problems at all. BUT (always a but) the volume when playing a Zinc emulated game is like 200% louder than what i have Gameex volume set at (and every other game for that matter) i have tried lowering the volume in the control panel on every slider to be the same, but its still the same.

Does anyone know of a command line? or an .ini setting to reduce the volume to a more acceptable level?

Is anyone else having this problem too? please post even if you dont have this, so at least i know im not going insane on my own!

Cheers

No, you are not alone. I've just never tried to fix it. I just turn my speaker volume down ( yeah I'm lazy) when I get a zinc game thats too loud. Can't you get to the service menu in zinc games like pressing F2 in mame? You can usually adjust each game's volume that way.

nope i tried the service menu and its no good.

If anyone knows of even a program i can run in the background to normalize all audio output that would work!

this is a problem Im having as well. And since this is a cab my speaker volume controls are very difficult to get to, and Im not aware of how to map any Ipac keys to control volume.

Theres got to be some type of solution to this.

ive tried heaps of stuff like command line thing etc but no luck whatsoever, all i can think of now is running some sort of bat file before launching the emulator to drop the volume down 50% or something

thats a good idea, although I'm not aware of any software programs that can effectively control the system volume through a batch file. Any suggestions?

I went to the zinc boards looking for an answer... that was a joke. The first repsonse I get is from some guy asking if my speakers are the magical kind that lack volume controls"

I can't stand boards like that - full of elitist jackasses.

I have written a command line program for this purpose. It's hard to explain how it works, but I'll try.

You run it before the emu and it writes a file of the current volume. You then set the volume you want the emu to be. When you exit the emu, you run the program again with a different command line switch. This time it will save the volume you changed for next time and then restore it back to the original volume. Unfortunately I havn't fixed it to work with volume percentages yet, so it will set the volume the same each time. But everytime you run the emu, it should automatically set the volume to the last volume you set while running the emu.
