Best i can see, I use the external apps dialog in the configuration to set-up any external apps, including other emulators. Lets use Gens as an example. I pointed it to the proper directory, pointed it to the executable file. I staretd GameEx, I saw it on the menu, and it even loaded the system logo next to it (not the same one I had placed in the directory - which is another mystery to figure out, but it did show a logo none the less).

When I clicked on the new Gens button the pc screen went black, and nothing happened. A few escape key attempts and I managed to get back to the GameEx loader.

2 things strike me as odd.

A) it locked up/ didnt run.

B) Gens has no game select menu built into it. So how do I go about using all these nifty snaps for sega, snes, and nes games I've downloaded. Or eevn the avi previews I've downloaded?

Is there a way to get GameEx to load rom lists for these other emulators in the same manner it loads them for mame (with alphabetical listing which includes snaps/avi's and such?)

Also - if there is any documentation that answers these questions I woul love to be pointed towards it. I hate to ask something like this only to find out I could have read how to do it elsewhere. Thank you in advance to anyone who helps.

and then I hit the "next page" button on the main page of the configuration utility only to find the answer to all these questions...

lol, sorry.

Anyone mind reccomending a place to go to get SNES box art scans and scans for other games? thanks

I would really like to know this as well. I just got game ex and have it running fine with mame and my music, but was curious as to how to apply other emulators. I assume like the above poster mentioned that you would just use the external app feature, but I wasn't sure. If someone could point out a faq on this that would be great as I've searched around and haven't found anything.

Like the original poster just stated, you have to go to page 2 of the config program and edit the settings for "Emulator 1", "Emulator 2" etc. Config files for these are available in the pinned topic called "User Submitted Configs". If you can't find one that you need, you can make a post here to request one, and hopefully some kind soul will post his/her config for you to copy.

A good place to start would be the screenshot archive

Thanks for the information guess I need to mess around alittle more and find it lol. Anyway I tried it with project 64 and the same thing is happen that was mentioned above. WHen I try to load a game it just go black and doesn't do anything. Works fine if I load outside game ex. I will probably just use game ex for mame and then manually open up my other emulators. Thanks again for the quick response.

The black screen usually means the emulator is running but in the background. You have to set the emu to go into full screen often using command line options or some config file or setting in the emulator. That is why you really need to be specific about the emulator your trying to get working because they all need their own custom setup.

As for Project 64, read the bottom of this thread to get my Project 64 config and the special full screen setting you need.

If you have a little patience and tackle each emu one by one you'll eventually get there. Fortunately alot of people here have already been through it and don't mind helping you out. Good luck :)

I certainly wouldn't. :)

Hope that helps! :)
