[RESOLVED] Display won't go to sleep while GameEx is running

I'm using GameEx as a front end for the gaming aspects of my home theater / gaming PC. I have the PC set up to put the display to sleep after 15 minutes so that if the TV is left on, the display will go to sleep and the TV will shut off automatically (as it's set up to do so if it receives no signal for long enough). After 15 minutes of idling, when any other application is in the foreground, the display will turn off. But unfortunately, not when GameEx is running and frontmost.

Strangely, if I set the whole PC to go to sleep it will do so after the specified amount of idle time. It's just the display that never goes to sleep.

Any idea what the problem could be, and what I can do to fix it?

I've already tried using "powercfg.exe /energy" while GameEx is running to get an energy report and find out what's preventing the display from sleeping, but unfortunately it didn't list anything as preventing the computer from going to sleep.

System info:

Windows 8.1 64-bit

8 GB RAM

3.5 ghz Intel Core i5

NVidia GeForce GTX 770

Xbox 360 Controller connected using wireless receiver

(Just in case it helps, I've attached my copy of GameEx.ini)

I am not able to view the .ini file at the moment, but can you tell me if you have Attract Mode enabled? If so, can you try disabling it and see if this remedies the issue you are encountering?

I think preventing sleep while in fullscreen is by design, but Tom would have to say for sure.

Guygizmo, if you need some assistance on where to locate the built in screensaver, it's within the setup wizard under "Attract/Screensaver." For what you're talking about, you probably want the "turn off monitor" option.

Just a heads up, if you like glitz and glamour. You can also select the gameex screensaver, which is awesome. It plays short video previews of games. I love it. However, if you plan on leaving it on all the time, it would be a power drain.

I have attached a picture of the applicable portion of the gameex setup wizard. You can just do a google search for "gameex setup wizard" and locate what I am talking about. It's a very detailed explanation of the setup process for the technologically challenged folks, like myself.

Here's a link too

There is an in built screensaver mode in GameEx that will turn off the display. Try that.

That did the trick. Thanks! I had missed the whole attract mode / screensaver options.
