My GameEx is registered and all of the features are working. The wait on startup is gone, however when I shut down GameEx I go to a black screen for about 15-30 seconds until it shuts down completely. I've been told this is not normal behavior, and I expect GameEx to shut down instantly without the ridiculous wait. It's driving me mad. Any ideas?

I've attached the ini and log files in case you need them.

It could be that it is waiting for threads to exit such as the emumovies downloader in order to ensure it does not download corrupt files but your log looks fine.

How exactly is it not exiting? According to your log it is taking .4 seconds so I am not sure if its strictly a GameEx issue at this point?

Could it be Steam content downloading or GameEx Arcade content?

The screen goes black and it waits usually 15 to 20 seconds before going back to the desktop. It seems accurate to say that it takes those .4 seconds to reach the black screen. The black screen is not the OS being hidden, however, because I turned that feature off. So that leads me to assume that it must be related to GameEx. Also, if a video is playing then the sound of that video will continue to play until it goes back to the OS.

I disabled automatic login/logout of Steam and GameEx Arcade but the problem persists.

Just my2cents but i think it is just finishing it's current Steam media download. I recently installed around 25 Steam games whilst not loading GameEx at all, and now i have the same issue. Coincidence? Probably not as it is the only time i ever experience this. Usually when i do a system wipe and reinstall GameEx i leave it running for a couple of hours on the first boot purely for this reason, it's just this time i've been inpatient and so i have to wait around 20 seconds each time for the black screen to disappear. I'll bet vital bodyparts that it rights itself once finished grabbing all your Steam media ;)

Ok Tom if there is an issue fair enough :P I guess it is coincidence this time ^_^

Not sure if there was an issue or not but I don't see any issues here right now.

If it was the issue it should rectify in about an hour. If you want it sooner reboot PC and router.

It appears that waiting a certain period of time and then closing allows it to close instantly. If I just start up GameEx and try to exit, there's the long wait. So something is trying to happen at startup, but I'm not sure what. Not a problem if I'm using GameEx for a long time, but quite an annoyance if I'm trying to test and configure things quickly as I am now.

I have the same issue, If it isn't the Steam thing i would guess it the GE Online portion. I have the same symptoms Fugsnarf describes - but shortened to around 10 seconds - still considerably more than previously (instant as far as my eyes could tell :D)

Well, perhaps this is just a normal thing then. At least Tom fixed something out of it. It's really not that big of a deal; at least I now know that it does close instantly after I wait awhile.

Negative, though it's possible that my GameEx isn't updating. Is there any way to make sure it's updating itself?

Also, when I used the task switcher, I saw that hideOS was running even though I disabled it. That might explain the black screen during the long wait. However, GameEx must still be running while that's happening because videos that were playing keeping playing their sound during the wait to close.

Would you mind posting an updated log.txt file from right after this occurs? Thanks!

Things are getting interesting now. I started up GameEx and escaped right away, and it closed almost instantly. This happened 3 times. I then decided to try it again after navigating a few menus. I navigated to a game that had a video, pressed escape, and the problem reoccurred with a good 20-second wait. However, I tried it again after navigating to a video and it closed within a second. Earlier the wait was consistently 15-20 seconds every single time, so something did change.

It seems that some times it takes longer than others now, but I really can't figure out any rhyme or reason with my own testing. I've attached the updated log file.

To the best of your recollection, was the game Deus Ex (under your Steam Games) or one right after? I ask because of this:

12:06:16.8 7/13/2014: Found Steam Game: Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition. AppID=6910. Location:C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Deus Ex12:06:16.8 7/13/2014: Invalid or filtered path:

The game I went to on the menu? No. It wasn't even under Steam games. I'll try disabling Steam completely and see what happens.

Also, check the Steam games that show in the log.txt against your actual library in Steam to see if maybe a game had been removed locally.
