hello all, and great work Tom.

i cannot get gameex to launch my n64 games. Everything is congifured correctly but when i launch a game from within gameex it then goes the game broswer for the emu, thus defeating the purpose of the frontend.

my configs "has anyone gotten these emu's to work in gameEx?"

This is my config file for N64. I use Project 64 though. This works perfectly for me.

[Emulator_1]

Enabled=True

StartPageName=Nintendo 64

TitleText=N64 Games

StartPageLogo=n64

RomFilter=*.V64;*.rom;*.Z64

RomsInFolders=False

ROMPath=C:\Program Files\Emulators\N64\roms

SnapPath=C:\Program Files\Emulators\N64\snaps

WorkingPath=C:\Program Files\Emulators\N64

ReplaceUnder=True

Capitals=True

RemoveBrackets=False

ShowDesktop=False

Debug=False

MapFile=

OLDatZip=C:\Program Files\OfflineList0.7\datas\n64_OL.zip

Command=Project64.exe [ROMPath]\[RomFile]

The only things that I can see is that you have Debug set to 'true'. This will stop the emulator until you press a button. Also you have set the emulator to start games in full screen. Last thing try removing the brackets from the [ROMPath]\[RomFile] on the command line at the bottom of the config.

Hope this helps.

I noticed that you were using project64, so i decided to try it and it worked like a charm :) - thanks

I have come to the conclusion that 1964 is not 100% compatible with gameEx because i configured pj64 the exact same way i did 1964 - thanks to you and it work.

well pj64 is just as good

Jedah I too use Project 64 and it runs brilliantly on its own but when I use it with GameEx it just has that dull thud sound effect and says it has to shut down, wierd. Im using the exact same set up as yourself (albeit in my own directories of course.

The only thing I dont have is

OLDatZip=C:\Program Files\OfflineList0.7\datas\n64_OL.zip

where do I get this OLDatZip for the n64.

My MAME and GBA emus work 100% with GameEx and Im very happy apart from this one problem.

Ah my apologies, a little Googling and I think I have the problem of the dat file fixed, lets see if its the reason for it crashing out.

Will I need any specific tweaks or settings to be done to P64 itself that may help?

EDIT: Oh well, the n64_OL.zip didnt stop the crashing out, so Im baffled for the time being. Any idea what might cause it? And what does GameEx want with the Offline dat for anyway, i never noticed any difference when I viewd my N64 Game list, no screenshots or anything, even tho the Offline program shows the details and pics.

New version of project64 out,

all i have to say is WOW

gameEX rox

Wow indeed, I was only playing with P64 earlier on its own and I still get a lot of stuttering with Goldeneye and Mario Kart 64, but now for some reason its practically gone, only a little bit here and there, negligable. I dunno what they done but I like it.

Just gotta see it working with GameEx now and Ill be truly happy.

BTW what plugins do you use for Project64, Im just using defaults, but if theres any tips Id appreciate em.

the default plug-ins are the most bug free for me. jabo's graphics 1.6, jabo's sound 1.6 and jabo's directInputs 1.6, he's an awesome coder :).

on configurating gameEX, please take a look at Jedah and my config above and compare it with yours. It could be as simple as a typo :)

Yes Im going to stick with default, they seem to be much better since last upgrade, just the odd stutter and freeze up but nothing to worry about, after all its only emulation.

N64 is working fine now with new P64, strangely enough I never edited my config for GameEx, must have been something screwy somewhere between P64 1.5 and GameEx 3.47...thanks tho!

Thank Haze, but I figured it out after reading my the log. Man, I felt smarter than a fifth grader until I tried to run an NES game and got my task bar instead. I tried to go back to NEStopia to configure the full screen and can't save it but I'm guessing any ideas?

Your going to encounter this sort of thing alot I'm afraid. Just try to enjoy the journey ;) Every emulator is written by a different author and getting them all working inside a FE is really a miraculous thing when you think about it. Alot of people wonder why it isn't easier and were all working together to try and make it easier.

On the plus side alot of people have gone through what you have already. So I recommend checking out the search feature and reading through some of the older threads and how people have got certain emulators running already. If you still can't figure it out then make a new post. It's best not to keep posting in a thread about an N64 emulator when your having problems with a NES one. New problem, new post. Again just try and enjoy yourself even though it can get a bit frustrating at times :)
