Hi all,

Sorry for bringing this up again. but...

Ive just started to get all my emu's in to a frontend, gameex being my choice.

so as all the other problem threads.. my MAME works fine, and i can get game lists for all the emulators etc. but ZSnes, Nesticle, SegaGen etc all just ptovide me with a black screen when trying to load a rom.

Ive tried doing what it says in the FAQ but the black screen is still there.

any help would be much appreciated as its driving me up the wall and is probably very simple to sort out.

Ive attatched a copy of the gamex.ini file to the post, hope it helps.

thanks

Set Showdesktop=true, maybe this will help

thanks for the reply,

show desktop is already set to true for SNES and i've just set it to show desktop for NES but still with no luck,

any more suggestions?

Out of curiousity, what NES emulator are you using? VirtualNES?

Make sure that you have your emulator set to FULL SCREEN UPON OPENING ROM. Otherwise it will run in a small window behind GameEX. Hence, the black screen.

I had that problem last week.

Let me know if that helps

Tom could you make the HideOS feature toggle-able, or tell me how to turn it off if it already is? I am not sure I need that program running and it seems to cause problems for others as well, especially when tshooting.

Thanks.

Alonzo44,

I am using virtualNes,

but what i get with this is different, instead of the black screen the virtualnes emulator opens up in its small window, but no rom plays or even opens up in to full screen.

and i'm still at the same stage with the ZSnes just the normal black window and the windows taskbar dissapears.

all very strange and confusing (no doubt very common and simple to others ;) )

I am currently trying GameEx and my emulators etc on another machine so i can get them all working and troubleshoot etc before i transfer them on to my new arcade / jukebox pc. But at the moment im having no luck.

thanks for the idea!

hi,

I'm using 3.51 version of GameEX. I'm trying to run ZINC from GameEX on my laptop. I don't have any issue with running ZINC in DOS window. When Zinc is launched from GameEX, I only got a blank screen, but I can tell that it is running because I can hear the sound of the game and when I press "5", I can tell that I'm putting in coin to play in ZINC.

Can anyone help?

Thx

With Zinc, you might need to change the line in "renderer.cfg" to...

FullScreen = 1 ; Fullscreen mode: 0/1

Pretty sure it's set at 0 by default.

Can't remember if there was anything else that had to be changed, sorry mate, hopefully that's all.

I think I've found the problem:

When launching ZINC from GameEX, I had to use renderer.znc from d3d engine. Can't use "opengl" version at all, even though it works fine from MAMEWAH or DOS command line. I would like to use "opengl" because it is about 5-10 fps faster than "d3d"

Tom,

Any thought on this yet? I have no problem running this command from DOS and MAMEWAH

f:\zinc\zinc.exe 8 --roms-directory=f:\mame\roms --use-renderer-cfg-file=f:\zinc\renderer.cfg --renderer=f:\zinc\renderer.znc

The renderer.znc is from opengl. Is any program that GameEx launching in the background that prevent opengl from running properly? If I use d3d renderer then I don't have this issue, but I would like to use opengl since it gives me better performance

Please help me because I would like to use GameEx as my frontend since the moving menus are so cool (MAMEWAH can't do this)

THx

I am afraid your out of luck if you want to use OpenGL. At least for the moment.
