[ATTN TOM] Mame problems

hello everyone, I'm sorry but it certainly is a discussion already opened in another topics.

I have a problem with the settings of mame and in particular in the recognition of roms.

in practice they are not present in the list of all roms GameEx.

I own the romset 0.153 that was controlled with clrmamepro. I have used most versions of mame all in 64-bit version MameUI, mameplus, mame, mameuifx.

all data files have been updated to the latest versions on the net.

in the advanced settings of mame, I was turned on viewing all the roms (roms clones, imperfect games, casino games, mayhong games, adult games).

at each change of configuration was executed scaning of the list of rom.

but nothing to make the game list is not complete: the list stops at letter C and precisely to CarnEvil rom (1.0.1) also chd stop at the letter C.

Who can help me?

Hi Sergio. Are you using the integrated MAME support within GameEx? Did you "Update List?" at the end of the MAME menu while GameEx was running?

Not sure what is going on with your setup, but to look at the time/date stamps, you are from the future, my friend! You may want to get the time/date set correctly on your PC.

Also, you are running MAME from C:\Users\sergio\Desktop\mame\. I am not certain if that is going to be an issue or not, but could we be hitting against a rights issue? Running from C:\WHATEVER FODLER NAME YOU PREFER\ is usually recommended.

Usually is YYYY-MM-DD however, none of the dates add up no matter how you format them.

I was just saying I don't necessarily think he's doing something wacky with his system date; the log is probably just representative of the system date-time format.

Back on topic this problem sounds similar nay identical to the problem described here. In that case it was necessary for Tom to address the issue. I'm wondering if maybe we had some weird regression occurring here?

i think we had this problem allready. as i remember it doesnt had to do with GameEx. I think the history-file was bad formatted. there was some semicolon error in some of the history-data. i would try one from another source. i didnt have that problem anymore, but i am sad that i cannot contribute the right file right now. as my newest setup is on the wee-cade of my girlfriend . maybe someone else, have the right history-data-file.

I stand corrected.. totally neglected the DD-MM-YYYY format. I believe an old bug may have creeped back in, or at least one very similar.

The CarnEvil bug is indeed back. Snip from 0.153 history.dat:

The | character is what seems to halt it. I've attached a new history.dat for you to try. Last time it worked for some and not for others so maybe there is more to it.

Unfortunately, I always have a problem with mame, that is not shown the full list of games.

When I use UI Mameplus my list of games is 29110.

In GameEx my list is 6149 games.

If you want to see absolutely all of your roms you will need the following in MAME Settings:

Only Working Games = No

Allow Imperfect = Yes

Verify = No

Only Existing = Yes

Use Game Filter = No

Change these to "Gimme":

No Adult Games

No Mahjong Games

No Casino Games

Load GameEx, click Update List

So whats probably happening here is GameEx is verifying your games and they aren't passing the check.

I tried again GameEx with mame plus.I use the settings suggested by DazzleHP excluding Existing Only set = no.

I deleted the path of extra files (mameinfo, commanddat, controlini, etc ...).

GameEx list 11400 games.

outside of GameEx, Mameplus detect 29110 games

Does the MAME Plus count include all the mechanical games and whatnot? (i.e. whack a mole, slot machines pinball machines, etc.) GameEx will filter all those games out by default since they will never be playable in MAME without major changes to the emulation.
