davidj1987 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Just curious as I had some ISO's in RAR archives and they used to work but they stopped working, is RAR support broken in Gameex?
Adultery Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 If have to defer to someone who uses rar files, I prefer 7-zip myself. The dll might need updating since the new rar super compression extension came out, I'm not sure.
davidj1987 Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 Hmm. Odd, and yes the setting to use compressed archives is enabled. However is there a guide out there on how to recompress/pack rar files to .zip or .7z?
Tom Speirs Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I did replace 7z with a newer version although RAR should still be supported. I will have to test.
davidj1987 Posted February 16, 2014 Author Posted February 16, 2014 I finally got back to repacking everything to .zip (no big deal, as I let it process while I was at work and sleeping) and it works now but RAR support may be broken as it was working before. :/
Adultery Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Rar is the issue, not 7zip. :-)If I had to guess it was that he's using a current version of winrar to compress them, and there has been a new compression standard released. :-)The 7zip dll doesn't handle rar uncompression... or does it? If it does then maybe they removed rar support?
Tom Speirs Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 The 7-zip command line version included with GameEx should unzip rars. Like I said I replaced it with a newer version recently. Maybe something got broken, I need to check. Its 7za.exe in the GameEx install.7-zip does uncompress rars, just not compress then.
davidj1987 Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 I use 7Zip. However I used Peazip on my main computer to recompress everything to .zip and it works fine. It wasn't a huge deal. I don't have WinRAR on my spare computer and just 7zip (doubt latest version) and it opened the rar files fine.
Tom Speirs Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 It did in fact get broken in a recent release. Will be fixed for next release. In the meantime you can use the attached 7z files as a patch.7za920.zip 1
