Hey,

I'm a huge fan of superhero comic's and graphic novel's and my collection is slowly but surely building.

Just a heads up to let people know that most of the newer Marvel/DC Comics have digital download codes which can usually be found within the hard copy of the comic book itself. These codes enable you to download a digital copy of the same comic from their website.

I may have a few unused codes from the hard copies I own that I can gift to other users if you are interested, if you are, feel free to PM me.

Please keep in mind as these would be on a first come first serve basis as the codes can only be redeemed once.

There are alot of comics I own and haven't even read yet, I'm close to 600 comic's, none of them a series, I'm currently reading Legends Of The Dark Knight.

I'm a sucker for buying first issue's and then not buying anymore from that series. I like the feeling of having a #1 issue, I think the only full set I have is Domination Factor: Avengers. I do really need to get my head down and start reading them

I haven't read any of the A vs X comic's yet or read the plot, I cant get them from where I live, I will definitely have to pick them up, I know that they there readily available on Ebay but I never get them off there due to bad experiences when buying comics.

Crap, sorry dude I guess I spilled the spoiler beans. I won't give you anymore details I promise! Just know that it was epic and caused a lot of issues post event.

I bought up a whole bunch of #1's recently too. DC just did a huge reset and re-released all their books starting at number 1. Marvel is in the process of doing so right now as well, post the AvsX event. Kinda sucks though because they're restarting books that lasted for decades... like The Amazing Spider-Man (made it to 700) and Uncanny X-Men (made it to 544). Kinda dumb reset the numbering if you ask me. But, I bought all the number 1's when they came out, and kept buying a couple of them. I also spent a long time looking through my shops long boxes he had marked down to 75 cents and grabbed a whole bunch of number 1's from there too.

I bought a really sweet program to catalog my collection so I know what I have. It also has a web hosting service where you can list your catalog for other people to see. Here's my current list as of the additions from yesterday:

According to this article Marvel is giving away 700 debut comics in digital format free until 11PM EST Tuesday 3/12.

I have an account there but their digital store website is so full of traffic you can't even check it out. I found another way in and added 2 current issues to a checkout cart when i discovered my billing account didn't have any credit card info on it. I tried adding it but their website is so busy right now I can't even update my profile/account. I'm probably going to miss out..

Yep, it's pretty much been down for me all day too. And to think that if they had utilized something like an ad-hoc torrent tracker to handle the additional bandwidth, they wouldn't have had nearly as many bandwidth issues. Sigh ... it's unfortunate that BitTorrent technology has become so synonymous with file sharing that major content distributors are afraid (or too short sighted) to put it to good use.

All the same, I'm hoping to snag a couple of good titles! Thanks for the heads up Draco!

Yeah it's still down. They have a little announcement thing saying that with all the high volumes of traffic, they DID infact have server issues. Trouble is, they haven't taken down the announcement yet, and it's been over 12 hours now. It's 1:00 EST now, and they're only doing it until midnight..

So it looks like ComiXology opted to "pause" the promotion while they attempt to address bandwidth issues. Hopefully they will opt to re-launch the promotion at some point, but the language in use here seems to be pretty neutral (and their posted link is a dead end)

Good luck with that. Unless you subscribe (paid) to their Marvel Unlimited subscription, you can only view them online. Even with the subscription, you can only download six at a time for offline viewing. So they really aren't giving anything away. Nice bait & switch for your email address and info. Thanks Marvel!

Lol you guys are taking way more advantage of the offer than I did. I only grabbed 72 comics. Mostly the older stuff. I actually have the physical #1's for a lot of these and didn't see the need to grab the digital versions. To me, the digital versions aren't worth anything, and I just want to read them, which is what it's all about anyway.
