How does powerstrip differ in how it makes its custom resolutions?

the one I made I did with the geforce driver, and it worked, but I

don't think windows really supported it, because in the basic windows

display/settings window it still showed 640x480 8bit color, when the

custom gforce driver settings windows showed my custom resolution at

32bit color.

Powerstrip runs as a process in the background. It does not differ in how it creates the resolution, but dynamically applies all the sizing, position, refresh etc in all applications or games using a resolution defined within it. In other words it MAKES windows and all apps support it.
