MNMax21 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Wow and Wow!!! That theme is fantastic. I learned a few things setting it all up in the wizard too. I hadn't named the Emulator titles quite the same way you had, so the emulator backgrounds weren't showing up on a few of them. I then decided to just force the background with the custom section, however the High Score RSS feeds did not work. I then realized my errors after looking at the titles for the theme backgrounds in the media file and realizing they did not match what I had named them. Once I changed the names to what you had (which was probably the correct naming anyways) the RSS feeds worked and it looks AWESOME!!!! My errors were fairly simple. Example would be, I had one listed as "Nintendo N64," but it was listed as "Nintendo 64" in your theme. Once I changed that specific emulator title to "Nintendo 64" in the settings wizard everything populated and worked great.I am having that issue with the Emulated Games directory too. I named it Emulated-Console Games in my custom part of GameEx. I imagine if I switch that to "Emulated Games" or however it had originally appeared in GameEx, the RSS feed would be there.(I posted the above in case someone else has the same issue and doesn't realize what's going on. It took me a second to figure it out, but it was an error on my end. Nothing to do with the theme.)Have you thought about making a background theme for the "High Score Games" emulator build deal they have going over in the High Score Competition area? I ask, because I'm pretty sure you could make a sick backdrop for it.Again, well done Krakerman! Quote
MNMax21 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 My thinking right now is to finish this before moving on to Evo. With GE Evo I hope we can create individual game themes for each console that way I can take this theme to the next level.Wow, that would be a large amount of detail and work. Are you saying you would make a specific backdrop for say Donkey Kong, when you click on the game in the MAME settings and it takes you to the play game portion? For instance, having the bezel above or something? That would be amazing. I hope it would be something simple where you could just make a command line pull the specific bezel for that game into the theme background. It would be amazingly tedious to build something for each MAME game without the command options...I really love the details you did on the Atari 2600 with the switches. Also, the NES controller behind the names of the games in the NES emulator section was genius. Quote
Krakerman Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 yes you are right on about the naming of the systems my way might not be the same as everyone else's. You just need to go in and change the names to match yours or you can just change it in the setup wizard to match mine, but you already figured that out. Yes I have thought about a High Scores Competition theme and I am working on a design. Glad you got it up and running. 1 Quote
Krakerman Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 my wishes for EVO is just that the ability to create themes for each individual games for a select system as well as having a default theme so if a theme is not created for a game it can have a default theme. yes it is alot of work but this way your setup will run just fine and I can create themes as I go. I only have 2 that don't work (and that's because you don't have them yet). Just want to throw this out there... I LOVE THIS THEME. It's now at the top of my rotation. Quote

ClassicGMR Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 @ClassicGMR Which 2 themes I haven't made yet?Well the Neo Geo Pocket Color is one. The other is something you're probably not thinking about - Windows games. I can live with the black screen looking at Windows actually. I run all my eXoDOS packages, Puzzle Quest and a few others through a Windows PC selector. Quote
Krakerman Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 nah windows games is on my list as well as neogeo pocket. Still have alot of work to do. 1 Quote
Krakerman Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 If you guys really want pinball themes I'll think about making them. Quote
MNMax21 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Pinball themes would be outstanding. It may not be that important though. You bring up a good point in PinballX. I haven't had a chance to delve I to that yet. Quote
MNMax21 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I still cannot seem to get the High Score RSS feed to work when I am in the Emulator selector page. It's there when I am on the main page, but once I click on Emulated Games, I cannot the see RSS feed scrolling on that section. I was wondering if you could tell me what you have that section labeled on your gameex program. I am just wondering if it's a similar issue to the naming of the emulators themselves. I checked in the media portion of the theme file and I could only locate one file that seemed to match being the Emulator background image, that file was named 'emubak.' However, that file is just a black picture? Are you able to see the RSS Feed in the Emulator subsection on yours? Is anyone else encountering this or have I done something wrong? Quote
Adultery Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I believe you need to make a text file and place it in the root GameEx folder and name it the same as the emulator. Hold on, I'll run downstairs and check. Quote
MNMax21 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I'm not having the issue in a specific emulator (ie. Nintendo NES). It's the selection screen right before you enter the selected emulator. I have the RSS feed in all my emulators now. Basically, GameEx starts up and you have MAME, Last Played, etc. The RSS Feed is visible there on the main screen. However, if I click on "Emulated Games" The RSS feed disappears after that screen loads. It then reappears when I go into an emulator. For some reason it's not showing up in the section where Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Nintendo NES, etc. is listed. The emulator selection screen is the best way i can think to describe it. Quote
Adultery Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 You need to make two text files:emulatorselect_scroller.txtemu_scroller.txtI'm not sure offhand which one it is, so you might as well just make them both. Judging by your description, it's the first one. Enter the URL into the text document and save it to Your Theme->Media folder.Good to go. Thanks for supporting the RSS (as well as the plethora of Hi-Score add-ons), I think it's a cool feature for sure. Quote
MNMax21 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Cool, I'll check it out. Wife nixed my arcade madness tonight. I'll check in morning. Thanks for all your help! Quote
