Hi Frankybabes,

Thanks for the information you provided. When you have an opportunity would you also mind uploading a copy of your log after having experienced this error?

Additionally it may be helpful to follow the steps provided in item 4B (Troubleshooting with "Run Last Game") in the How to Ask For Help thread to determine if any information is being output to your command console regarding this error.

4. "Run Last Game",or "RunitGame.bat"

It is important that the last emulator run in GameEx is the one that you are having problems with!

A. Post your "Run Last Game"
or "Runitgame.bat"

Every once in awhile, someone will ask to post the contents of "Runitgame.bat" RunitGame.bat, Is the batch file that GameEx uses to start the emulator, it will show the actual command lines that GameEx is using to start the emulator. To view it, Go to: Start Menu > Program Files > GameEx > Utilities> Run Last Game, and Right click on the icon, and choose "Edit". If Windows wants to know what program to use to open the file, Choose "Select a Program From a List of Installed Programs" Choose "Notepad" from the list. (You may want to make sure that "Use This Program Everytime" is checked.)

Copy and paste the text from Notepad into your next post, by using the keys:
Ctrl + "A" (select all)
Ctrl + "C" (copy)
Ctrl + "V" (paste)

B. Troubleshooting with "Run Last Game"

Follow the instuctions above to open "runitgame.bat" It will look something like this, however, the contents will vary depending on the last emulator that was run in GameEx.

One way to troubleshoot a problem is to add the word "Pause" at the end of the Runitgame.bat file. When Windows asks "Do you want to save the changes..." Click on "Save". Next, double click on the "Run Last Game" Icon in the Start Menu. This will send the commands again, but the command window will remain open. It may show an error that will help you to understand what is wrong.

If you get this error:
'Emulator name.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
It means that either you have the incorrect name specified for your Emulator.exe, or your working path is incorrect.

If it gives an error that you don't understand, please let us know that you tried this method, and let us know what the error is.

Thanks man!

I think you'll either need to verify that your nulldc.cfg file (found in the same directory as nullDC_Win32_Release-NoTrace.exe) has been modified as I suggested here

-OR-

you'll want to modify your command line to utilize the parameters that snarls suggested here.

(Or just do both for maximum overkill ;))

Check that out and see if it helps.

Tried both command lines and its still the same :( as regards to the 4b item did as you said and added pause to the end of the file & saved it and then ran it, all I got was a flash of a rectangle on screen and nothing :wacko:

Thanks Frankybabes!

In your nulldc.cfg find the following section:

[ImageReader]PatchRegion=0LoadDefaultImage=0DefaultImage=defualt.gdiLastImage=J:\Dreamcast Roms\Bangai-O.cdi

Then change the LoadDefaultImage line so that it reads

LoadDefaultImage=1

I think that may be of some assistance. Your command line should be good as is.

When I run nullDC on its own the games load but I have to press escape to get out of them, If that's any help. I have tried ALL the games in GameEx and none load!

Would you mind trying to alter your runitgame.bat one more time? So if your runitgame.bat looks like this:

chcp 65001C:CD "C:\Emulators\Sega Dreamcast"nullDC_Win32_Release-NoTrace.exe -config nullDC:Emulator.Autostart=1 -config ImageReader:LoadDefaultImage=1 -config ImageReader:DefaultImage="J:\Dreamcast Roms\Grand Theft Auto 2.cdi"

Add the word pause to the end of the file like so:

chcp 65001C:CD "C:\Emulators\Sega Dreamcast"nullDC_Win32_Release-NoTrace.exe -config nullDC:Emulator.Autostart=1 -config ImageReader:LoadDefaultImage=1 -config ImageReader:DefaultImage="J:\Dreamcast Roms\Grand Theft Auto 2.cdi"pause

That should prevent the command window from closing. It will give you a message that says "Press any key to continue" or something along those lines. Now before you run another game through GameEx, simply try to double click on that file after having saved it. I'm curious if there are any errors being output to the command window. Remember that running games through an emulator GUI is a much different animal than running them from the command line. In order to get them running through GameEx again we need to get them launching from the command line (or at least determine why they are not).

TBH everything else in your setup looks pretty good to me unless there's something I'm just not seeing.

here is the "Run last game" file. Regards Frankybabes

C:\GameEx\DATA>chcp 65001
Active code page: 65001

C:\GameEx\DATA>C:

C:\GameEx\DATA>CD "C:\Emulators\Sega Dreamcast"

C:\Emulators\Sega Dreamcast>nullDC_Win32_Release-NoTrace.exe -config nullDC:Emul
ator.Autostart=1 -config ImageReader:LoadDefaultImage=1 -config ImageReader:Defa
ultImage="J:\Dreamcast Roms\Sonic Adventure 2.cdi"
'nullDC_Win32_Release-NoTrace.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external
command,
operable program or batch file.

C:\Emulators\Sega Dreamcast>pause
Press any key to continue . . .

C:\GameEx\DATA>CD "C:\Emulators\Sega Dreamcas

C:\Emulators\Sega Dreamcast>nullDC_Win32_Release-NoTrace.exe -config nullDC:Emul

ator.Autostart=1 -config ImageReader:LoadDefaultImage=1 -config ImageReader:Defa

ultImage="J:\Dreamcast Roms\Sonic Adventure 2.cdi"

'nullDC_Win32_Release-NoTrace.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external

command, operable program or batch file.

I'm guessing that either C:\Emulators\Sega Dreamcast is not actually the working path of where your emulator is located, or that nullDC_Win32_Release-NoTrace.exe is not actually the exact name of the emulator executable.

Take a look at those two factors and see if one of those is causing the problem. I think we're getting there man! :)
