Joystick Help

Hey guys. More of a cabinet thread than a GameEx so I decided to post this here in Social. I'm finally ready to replace my current joysticks and purchase new ones for my arcade cab but, I'm torn. There is 2 kinds of joysticks I'm interested in going with (both are 4-8 ways switchable) and was wondering if any of you had any hands on with either of them.

First is the Mag-Stick Plus from Ultimarc. This, obviously, is what I'd really like because of being able to swap from 4-8 from above the panel. A little more pricey than the other but its Ultimarc and I trust their quality.

The other is the OMNI2 4/8 Way Switchable from Groovy Game Gear. I like this stick because the top can be swapped out to ball or bat style and the fact that it can be changed out from 4-8 way. Downside is its all from under the panel. Not too big of a deal to me to lift up the panel and change it.

I've read a few threads about these over at BYOAC but I'd figure I'd ask here since I trust a lot of your guys' opinions.

If it were me I would opt for not having to lift up the cpanel, but that's just personal preference.

Yeah, toe dilly from top of panel. You have those Mag-Stick Plus sticks Adultery?

I had the magsticks on my CP. No downside to them at all. I did modify them so that you didn't have to pull up on them to change from 4 - 8 way, but could just twist them left and right.

Im leaning more towards the Mag-Sticks. Just didnt know if anyone has/had the Omni2's.

Apparently you can have your cake and eat it too.

I personally have four joysticks. The two primary joysticks are UltraStik 360s. It's really nice to have them programmatically switch from 2 way, 4 way, 8 way, and even 4 way diagonal.

HOWEVER, in one game that I consider myself somewhat of an expert player, I have to say I believe there is a very subtle delay in response. So for that game, I use the other cheaper switched joystick. It may all be in my imagination.

That said, I wouldn't trade my UltraStik 360s.

That would be cool with a plugin to switch the stick for you, otherwise you might as well do it by hand.

There is support for it via the Ultrastik plugin . I don't use it so don't know how versatile it is.
