Freshly Installed GameEx cant find roms

Hello,

I just recently installed GameEx, but when i hit update list, gameex cant find any roms. Already double check the rom path. Any suggestions?

The command for mameuifx isn't working. This may not be a supported mame build.

Still no game found error! change 2 different mame build and roms , and install old version of GameEX plus a fresh install of Windows 7 ,but still getting the error

Any sugestions?

GameEx started updating listinfo.dat and at 2% jump back to games not found error.. any input

Did you aquire your own rom set from somewhere not to be named here and make sure they were the version that matches your mame build, and are you absolutely positive they're located here:

C\Users\MAMEPC\Documents\MAME\0.146\roms

Yes, already triple check the roms location. I uninstall/reinstall GameEx, I used a diffrent mameui/rom version 0.147 and still shows up with " games not found" I dont know what else to try..please help

With mameui the roms works fine, mameui shows 8000 plus working rom...

Maybe it's the period in the file path... You got me on this one.

That is not a GameEx issue per se but a MS issue. Certain characters in a path can cause problems. Try removing the . from the path name, change the path settings in MAMEUI and also in GameEx and it should be golden.

So your trying to say to move the roms to a different path? Like c:\ roms right?

No, just rename the path by deleting the . in 0.146

It's errors out before it even looks at the rom folder so I would think it's something to do with the exe of the mame file. Either location or name or something else wrong.

Problem resolved! I just downgraded my OS to WindowsXp and everything works fine now, using the same paths i had before with Windows 7 .dont know why didnt work before. But anyway thank you all for your inputs.

It should work on either OS. Permissions maybe? Are both OS 32 or 64 bit?
