My cab is at the point where I want to start installing the ledwiz, lights, contactors etc.

But I'm scared...

Electronics are really not my thing,el time & if left to my own devices I will blow motherboards, ipacs, ledwizz etc!!!

Is there anyone around Sussex, near Brighton who'd be happy to come over & spend a few hours helping me to get a fews leds & contactors installed, ie get me started?

£100 + travel costs??

Darnit I wish I lived in Sussex! What you are afraid to do really is not that difficult, although some of it can be tricky. Nothing that will blow up, anyway. If you have a friend who is good at putting together computers, they can probably figure out the rest as well. You should also try posting for some help over at vpforums.org since they have a larger userbase and might have someone nearby if you dont find someone here.

I can put PCs together, but I have hunted & searched but at this point I don't even know what basic wiring I am supposed to be doing to get something light the start button to light up???

I'm advertising locally as well as forums for help on this but nothing so far which is a shame as I can't move forward.

Connect the button lights to a 5v (yellow) and ground wire on an extra 4-wire molex from the PC's power supply. If you have more than one button to light, there should be plenty of juice to sting them all together.

Is this right?

I take a molex cable, I wire the yellow to the live on the light control, I then connect ground to the black molex?

That will give me permanent power on of the LED though, so where do I go to get the light to activate when required, ie Start?

I have a ipac or led wiz so can use either?

The LED Wiz is the controler for all things lit, blinky, and flashy. That is what you want to use for anything that you don't want just constantly on. I do not have one myself since I only have two lit buttons at the moment. I might be wrong about this, but I think you just ground the lights to the LED Wiz and it controls when they fire through that, but the lights themselves draw their own power directly (allowing for both 5v and 12v to be controlled without any fancy circuitry).

Mmm so...

I guess there is nothing for it but to try, I will attempt to get the Start button lit tonight!

Didn't try to wire up the other night, I'm scared!!!

Anyone around my neck of the woods??

Ahh you probably won't break it! Hit your local home improvement store and buy some clips and a wire stripper. You'll do fine. :)

Here is a good site that explains what wires are what in a power supply and how to use it to power your toys:

I would recommend one of zebs booster boards(but not mandatory). Just take your time and enjoy. We have all been there and if you do it yourself then you'll be able to troubleshoot later on. No better satisfaction than doing it yourself.

Most important is to have fun!

Got the basic Start & Launch lights working :-)

I'll do a dummy sheet so other idiots like me don't have to suffer!!

Thanks for the help guys.
