Does PinballX support animated GIFs?
Lyanheart
Good question... Just saw this and I'd like to have a cabinet/portrait version.
Tom1965
I tried replacing my "Loading.png" in the "Media\Loading Images" subfolder of PinballX with the double-speed version presented here, and renamed it "Loading.gif," but when I start a game, I only see the first frame, and it doesn't animate. Does PinballX support animated GIFs?I can recall reading somewhere that gifs are not supported in win7, something about a security risk. Draco1962
I can recall reading somewhere that gifs are not supported in win7, something about a security risk. That is not entirely correct. You can "open with" and select your browser of choice to view .gif files - animated or otherwise. It is only with Photo Viewer and it is mostly to do with proprietary format. Programmers can make this work by using libraries to display them within their programs. Not sure if it works in PinballX or not (that would be Tom that would need to answer). If not, someone will need to submit a feature request. Additionally, someone could possibly perform a conversion to a video format supported by PinballX. Tom Speirs
For startup images you should be able to convert then to startup videos.Spesoft Free Video Converter should convert a GIF to MP4 along with others.

rockyrocket
Well what do you know,I just put on a pair of shorts that I have not worn since last summer and found a usb drive in the pocket that I thought was lost. And guess what was "backed up" on it? .So I have converted the giff into some MP4`s, attached are some cab and desktop versions of differing lengths that are sped up and recolored a bit.Works fine as an intro movie , but did not show when put into the loading images folder unfortunately - hopefully that`s just operator error on my part?. Carny_Priest
Any info on using a "loading" video rather than the static image with PinballX\Media\Loading Images\Loading.png?I'm not sure how to get a video to work when launching a system. stefanaustria
Start "Settings.exe" and enable "Enable Startup Videos", select YES ! Thats it !
virtuoso
Start "Settings.exe" and enable "Enable Startup Videos", select YES ! Thats it !That's only for startup video of PinballX. Loading video is the one that should play after choosing a table (before to play, while Future Pinball/Visual Pinball is loading the table). In fact, it looks like that PinballX loads only images and not videos.
zeenon
I have not gotten this to work either, and think it's a bug. I've sent Tom a message informing him of the issue.Z
