So I have that scares downtime at work, and with my renewed vigor in GameEX/MAME and a CNC machine at my disposial in the shop, I thought I'd give a Arcade cabinet a try. Today I spent my time designing the 0.3 version. It's based with a 32" LED Monitor and for two players.
I was looking for some feedback and if anyone else has built one of these and can give me a heads up of what I should watch out for.
This is not a finished design in any means, just a work in progress that I wanted to share, feelings won't be hurt by the comments, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Full galleries can be found below at each version.

-- Updates --

130603-0630 v0.1 - First

130603-2300 v0.2 - Edges Expanded for sturdyness, frame now sits flush with the control panel so your wrist don't bump up against it while playing.

130604-1015 v0.3 - control panel leveled out (not so angled down)

130604-1444 v0.3.1 - Controller placement added.

130604-1614 v0.3.2 - Graphics and a more extensive paint job, joystick and button cut holes added in desired location.

130617-1800 v0.4 - Recreated every piece to better recreate in the real world. Measurements, cut angles and edges. Things fit together better.

130617-2131 v0.4.1 - Added fillet to pieces to give everything a better and more realistic looking edge.

I think it looks awesome. Where are you going to store the computer though? Are you going to possibly build it into the control panel? Other than that, I think the CG is cool. :)

I think the back "shelf" is going to tun into a lockbox for the computer.

Everything here is based on 3/4" MDF so "hopefully" we can cut this like a kit... I'm guessing it will be easy/simple/quick the second time around. :)

Very cool! We have a thread specific for Cabinets Running GameEx here. Would you mind posting your information and uploading the pics to a post there? Thanks!

Sweet, I didn't even see that thread. That will give me some good ideas to base the design off of, what worked what didn't.

I'm gonna keep this thread going because I'd like to show my process, but as soon as I have a build I'll definitely share it over there.
