Casino Slot Machines

Since this is game/emulator related and not GameEx specific related, I thought I'd post it over here...

So our town passed a law that allowed gambling in the state a year or so ago, and they've been building a Las Vegas style casino ever since. It opened back in October, and I've had the chance to go there twice now. They have all kinds of games, but it looks like 85% or more is all slots and video poker. These are very fun to play. I've heard of "Fruit Machines".. is that what I'm looking for? I'd like to get some practice in before I return. :)

Sounds like a project I could work on then. :) Been looking for something to contribute...

So there are 3 emulator platforms that I have found. MFME is basically MAME (Multiple Fruit Machine Emulator). The program itself though is not at all like MAME, but everything I see shows that it plays the most games. The next one is called JPeMu which is only capable of a select few games. The other one, only capable of a few games as well, is BFMulator. I'll work on setting up MFME first, since it has the highest capacity of games. I'll document my findings here. If anybody else feels they can provide assistance, please feel free to chime in to help me out.

Never took the time to put fruits on my cab. Do they work ok with a CP emulated or are they more of a touch screen sorta gig? Not trying to thread-jack Han, im just interested and might put this in my cab.

From what I can tell, it would probably work best with a touch screen, or some kind of mouse/trackball*+.. I managed to get MFME to play a game last night. It was Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring. You basically need to put the layout files in a folder and then the ROMs in the same folder so MFME can find them. Then you run layout the file and MFME starts the process running. There were 4 different versions of the game (all using the same ROM) that other people had come up with. Kinda like the way Pinball is, where you have the ROM but other people have different versions/quality of the tables. I was actually pretty disappointed in the quality. It was very grainy and pixelated. 3 of the games I couldn't actually PLAY aside from just having them running. There were no keyboard keys to add coins (like 5 in MAME) and no way to adjust bids, etc. One version of the game though DID have mouse support, where I could click the coin receiver to add money, and then could use the buttons at the bottom to spin and make adjustments of bids/multipliers. All in all though, the game was unplayable. Because it was such low quality, you couldn't see the reels, and the only sound I could get was from the ROM itself. I'm going to try a few other games today and see if theres some better ones. If not, I may just call this a bust and not worth it.
