X-Arcade won't navigate menus if I "Enable Custom Keyboard Controls"

Hi guys,

Me again with another issue.

In the setup wizard when I get to Keyboard Input, I am selecting YES because I want custom select and back keys. So the only changes I am making from default are Select (LControlKey) and Back (LMenu) because I prefer those buttons on X-Arcade controllers. Everything else is the same. But here's the deal, when "Enable Custom Keyboard Control" is set to YES, i can NOT use the X-Arcade controller to navigate the menus in GameEx (up down left right) even though those keyboard inputs are NOT being remapped. To solve the problem, I -did- try to remap them, but I just clear what is there, then use the appropriate control, and it appears that yes, Up Down Left Right all entered correctly, but once I boot into GameEX, the controller does not work and I have to use the mouse. HOWEVER, if I start a game, the controller works fine WITHIN the game.

Any ideas?

First think you need to do is make sure it is working inside and outside of GameEx. I would start with the configuration files provided by Celly in this thread.

Seriously man, I'm a UX professional, 12 years of experience with huge companies. Can I volunteer to redesign this setup interface? It's brutal. I mean, how many days should it take me to set this up? Shoddy as maximus was, I had that going in 20 minutes. It just had a problem when exiting games, otherwise I would have used it. Instead, I paid for this bad boy and I just can't figure out what the hell to do.

Alright so for anyone who finds this and is fumbling through this the same as me, you have to have the NUMLOCK key on your computer switched to ON, and then map custom keys on X-arcade USING THAT.

Not sure where you'd find that info, I just accidentally did it.

There is a section at www.X-Gaming.com that covers specifically where to place the config file for GameEx. Sorry things are running as smoothly for you as Maximus, however, I think that the active product and support is well worth the learning curve.

I am totally serious about redoing the wizard. Honestly am volunteering.

All the setup wizard does it manipulate the GameEx.ini file. If you want to write an app that you feel is easier to use, go for it. When it's done we can consider whether or not to suggest it as an alternative to other users.

Make sure you set a value to all the fields in the ini so you can see what values they create or you're gonna miss a few options.
