Hello again,

I recently discovered that I can not enter the HTCP/Multimedia section in the Setup-Wizard anymore. It immediately exits when entering that section:

htpcq.jpg

Maybe it has something to do, with my previous problem which still persists:

I tried a new install without success.

My files are attached.

THX in advance, u-man

Doubtful that this is the same error since it is not the same application as in your other post referenced. They may, however, be affected by a similar causal agent, and that being your install of Windows 7 x64 which leads to my questions as follows:

- In your other post, you had noted that you had no problems on an install (assuming another PC) with a 32-bit install - was that XP or the 32-bit Windows 7?

- Regarding your Win 7 x64 install, was this a fresh install with full product, upgrade install, or install from an "nlited" or similarly stripped down copy of Win 7 x64?

I am beginning to think that you may need to make a backup of your files and that your OS may need to be reinstalled.

hello Draco,

Yes, this happens only on my windows 7 64bit Ultimate (full product) PC. I have no issues (neither error appears) with the XP 32bit installation in my Cab-PC.

The 64bit version worked very long time. about christmas last year, the troubles started. I have no issues with ALL my other Apps installed and that is a reason why i would not like to make a fresh OS install. I could do it, just to make things sure, on a clean HD, but i will not install my whole software just for GameEx ;).

I am sure, there is some similarity with my last error posted, even if it was another App, but it is a GameEx App ;).

With all of the security updates Microsoft has issued, it is possible that one of the updates broke something else that these applications require. Unfortunately, if nobody is able to replicate the issue you are encountering as a result of such, I am afraid there isn't much else anyone can do to help.

You may need to explore things such as Event Viewer (under your Windows Administrative tools) to see if there are any warnings or errors, but, if pointing to a failed or missing .dll file, that is Windows and not GameEx applications.

As much as I or anyone else would like to help you resolve the issues you are encountering on your system, it may just come down to a reinstall of your Win 7 Ultimate. I know that is not what you want to hear, but I would rather be honest with you than blow smoke up your skirt and continue down a dead-end street with these issues.

Sounds like it may be a codec issue. Possibly when GameEx is enumerating the MPEG 2 codecs? Is the installation just copied across? Did you do a proper install? If not that could cause it.

Would a codec issue affect Setup-Wizard? I can see possibly with the problem he was having with theme editor in his other thread but not Setup Wizard.

i also think that this is codec-related. something is messed up here. the libraries have wrong dependencies with 32bit / 64bit codecs, something like this.

thank you for trying to help me to resolve my problem. the event-viewer is some help at least. i have many mpg2 codecs, at least 3 of them.

MainConcept Encoder

Windows MPG2 Encoder

and that Shark007 Codecs.

That's what I was thinking. Something along those lines. Might be time to reinstall. I don't think Ive personally gone longer that 6 months without reinstalling.

naaah.... i will rather leave it like this. I would spend one week just to have all my Apps and PlugIns again. I will try to solve this, if it dont go away, than i will maybe think about this, as I only have trouble with GameEx and only with "portions" of it. All my Apps like Adobe AfterEffects render properly and the codecs do their job properly.

it has to do with the Interop.WMPLib, and i am happy that other Apps do not use it.
