Needed a little feedback if I can get it.

Does anyone have any experience with using an S-Video cable instead of a Composite cable?

It's going to be used for a Nintendo Gamecube on my TV, The Cube model I have doesn't support the elusive Component Cable.

Or maybe perhaps could point me in the direction of a shop or dealer.

I have my PS2 Slim running through a Component Cable and it's super awesome, much much better than Composite or S-Video.

I can tell you that you will not get any sound as S-video only transmits video. Are there any audio out ports on your Game Cube and corresponding audio in ports on the TV (RCA jacks)?

My bad, it's actually an S-video and AV Cable combined.

Black S connector and the 3 AV colours (Red,Yellow,White)

S-video is higher quality than composite video... The picture is transferred as 2 separate signals (chroma & luma) instead of just one in composite... But, it does not deliver as good a picture as component...

I just did a little more digging and found out that the s-video option was removed from pal consoles.

But I've been told to use an official Nintendo RGB scart, which are impossible to find. Grrrrrr.

OMG i threw one out literally 3 months ago when going through my "big-box-o-cables-n-wires" along with 2 knackered cubes! Typical - you keep hold of this stuff for frikkin years, then the moment you get rid someone could use it! :P

Anywho, the official cables will be hard to find - and if you do manage to find one expect to pay an unreasonable amount for it. I did however find THIS. Seems to have good reviews and only a tenner. Could be an option if you're not too purist-elite :)

EDIT - after a bit of reading it seems some third party scarts are a bit of a gamble :( and i can't find find an official anywhere! Not even on eBay! It's like they are extinct. Darnit why i throw mine out - with a hell of a lot of other cables for that matter

I managed to source an official RGB scart from a neighbour of all people.

Yeah 3rd party scart cable's are hit n miss, most of them are not even RGB, they are AV in disguise.

thank god, that he gave us europeans SCART :P and ehuonder is absolutely right.

there is much rubbish outthere. stuff that claims to be Scart or S-Video. Its often of poor quality (made in China), maybe even does not work. so take care and keep your eyes open while buying.
