I installed GameEX and it works great, I used Instant Sheller to run it in my arcade machine. I used the option to exit Game Ex hoping to be able to enter the configuration but it was just a black screen. I understand this was intended but is there a way to back out or get to the configuration? Also may need to get to the desktop eventually to add more games.

I haven't used instant sheller before, but I suspect this might work:

1. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del

2. Select task manager

3. File->New task

4. Type 'explorer'

5. OK

That is correct.

I have done this many times myself.

Yep..that is the way...after I put the sheller in, there was a bit of a learning curve ;)

Zombieing this thread because this only half works for me. When I do this, I get an explorer window, but my start menu, task bar, and desktop are all still missing. How do I temporarily bring all of these back when I simply want to install a new program or add something to GameEx? And is there a way to easily and temporarily get my mouse pointer back to normal for just a bit?

The simple answer is "I don't know..." For some reason some computers seem to be set up so that running explorer.exe starts the Windows interface while others only bring up a command prompt. I personally have 1 of my computers that just brings up a command prompt, but all of my others start the Windows GUI. I set everything up the same, so I can't explain why there's a difference between them. This would be nice to know so that it could be configured correctly! I'll do a google search to see what I can come up with. If I find anything, I'll report back.

EDIT: I found an article or two on related topics, but nothing that seemed to help. The only thing I could really find was a couple that indicated the Windows Manager was to blame. I couldn't find anything else though.
