[RESOLVED] Marquees, Titles, Cpanels, Snaps not showing full screen...

Hi,

I have freshly installed Gameex to run Mame games library on an arcade cab (I had a lot of issues with themes before and could not find a solution to it so decided to do it from scratch and now it's ok).

I have set up everything but now I can't get the extra image for each game (title, cpanel, marquees, snap, flyer etc..) to display full screen. I can see the image displaying in the background when selecting it on the list but can't get into the full screen mode when pushing the select button

Any idea where to set this correctly??

It is possible you may need to Change View but I can only guess as to what you are experiencing. You may want to submit a copy of your log.txt and gameex.ini file so we may quickly assist you. Please refer to this link for additional information. Also, if you can upload a screen capture that may also help.

Hi,

Here enclosed log, gameex.ini and a screen capture. I am using the Default Media Background V1 theme and therefore I do not see any 'Change View' option in it.

In the screen capture you can see the image is displayed in the background but it is not possible to pop it full screen now...I can just hear the jingle several times when pushing the select button but nothing moves.

The issue may be a limitation of the theme itself (Version 1 themes are original themes from when GameEx came out and shortly after quite a few years ago). It is likely that Change View has been disabled within the Theme.ini file for the theme itself.

If you are really set on this theme, you may be able to change this by opening the theme.ini file in Notepad, searching for Change View=False to True, then save the file and open GameEx again.

I have checked in the Themes Folder --> Default Media Background V1 ---> Theme.ini. Opened the file with the text editor but there is no 'Change View' option available

I have checked all theme.ini files for each default theme and none has this option in it...

Anyway the full screen display of games extras (by hitting the Select button/key) was working before I decided to re-install Gameex from scratch. Is there something wrong with any image viewer used by Gameex maybe???

Then you will need to use Setup Wizard to search for the option or look under Enable/Disable features to see if it is enabled there. If not, enable and save, the open GameEx again. If the option is showing enabled and you still cannot see Change View in the Menu options, please test another theme to see if it displays there.

Hi Draco,

Change view is enabled in the Wizard Setup. I confirm also 'Change View' item is displayed on another theme (media Default) and working properly. I believe that this option is not included in the V1 background theme.

Meanwhile this option is used I believe to change the general aspect of the theme menus and do not solve my issue here. The problem I have is that I cannot display in full screen the extra files for each game (title, snap, cpanel, flyer, marquee etc..). I remember this function required to push the select button to toggle to full screen view and then with the joystick it was possible to scroll through the various images...then back button to go back to the game menu.

This is not working anymore and I tested this on all themes available.....

Is the functionality there if you use keyboard and/or mouse? If so, it may be that the settings for whatever application or map file you are using to map your joystick or gamepad is no longer correct. Can you tell us how you are doing this (CP? Gamepad? Joystick) and what application(s) you are using to map your buttons?

Hi Draco,

The buttons of the cab machine are mapped to the PC Keyboard through an Ultimarc PCBtoJamma interface. I am using also a trackball as a mouse.

I have tried to control gameex directly with the keyboard but no changes...can't display images in full screen. I can hear the theme sound repeated several times when pushing the select button and that's all...

This could be a display driver issue, or simply limitation of the video card. Although based on the log it looks like it should be fine.

Hi,

I don't think the driver is the culprit. This function was working flawlessly before I decided to re-install Gameex from scratch due to some issue with themes display.

I did not change anything on the XP configuration of my machine.

I did not re-installed the Ghostscript plugin as it is still working and I can open the games manual in pdf....could be this one the problem?

Is there a way to delete again all Gameex settings without going through the install process again?

Hi,

I finally found out what was causing this. In the Wizard under video settings I had to select the 16 bit video mode to NO. Now images will toggle to full screen!
