Hi chadisgr8 and welcome to the GameEx forums!

Sorry this issue has gone neglected. Based on your description I'm wondering if something has gone awry with the folder permissions on (or within) your GameEx installation directory. We recently had another report of a similar issue. It would be worthwhile reading through that thread and determining whether your issue is the same, similar, or completely different (I've linked to the post which begins to describe the folder permissions issue). Thanks chadisgr8 I'm hoping that we can help you work through this issue.

thanks for your reply, permissions seem to be fine, what i don't understand is that back/start on the 360 controller used to work and now it doesn't. how can i reinstall gameex but not lose any of my path settings (emulator settings)

I think you're right that re-installing GameEx might be a good idea in this scenario. You can re-install GameEx over the top of your current GameEx installation without issue. Your settings will be fine since GameEx doesn't create (or overwrite) your GameEx.ini as part of the installation process. You can certainly make a backup copy of your GameEx.ini if that increases your comfort level, but it is not strictly necessary to do so.

Hmm ... down but not out as they say.

So I noticed that you've mapped joy6/joy7 as the exit buttons. I don't use Xbox 360 controllers, but according to this image taken from the Microsoft customer support site, back and start are mapped to joy7 and joy8 respectively:

Might be worth remapping the exit buttons accordingly?

That's the strange part to me. Would you do me a favor? Locate your custominput.ini file in your GameEx\CONFIG\ directory. Right click the file and select properties. On the properties screen (under attributes) please verify that the read-only indicator has not been set for the file.

If anything you may need to make a manual edit to the file and set the read-only indicator yourself (so that some process doesn't come along behind you and alter it back again).

o.k. figured it out , somehow custom keys was set for exit under advanced emulator options before and now it's not so i can achieve the desired effect by changing that for each emulator i have, is there a way to set escape by custom keys for all emulators at one time without having to change each individual one under advanced emulator options??

thanx again for the support/ideas :-)

The global exit combo will apply across everything. If you have map gamepad exit set in the advanced emulator config it will override the global gamepad exit and it won't check for it. Please post your log.

Ive made an update to GameEx which will be in the next release. The Global gamepad exit will now still work even if its set seperatly in an advanced emulator config. This now seems to me logically what GameEx should do, In the meantime you can use the attached replacement gameex.exe

i already went through and made all the emulators "customkeys" manually in the gameex config wizard, good news is it'll be there for the next guy :-) thanx again for everyone's help... @tom great program, been using it for years finally got around to buying it :-), only thing i wish it had was the ability to customize themes from within games ie turning on/off certain features, like say hide screenshots, video preview window size etc....
