Is there a way to change the color of the "title" Words. I can change the size and font but the color only has hue and saturation and seems to have no effect. Thanks :D

This should be possible in the next release of GameEx. I am a little busy with real world stuff at the moment, but should not be too long.

Thanks.

The easiest way is to open the theme you want to convert using the theme editor, & print the screen. Then clip the printed screen down. You want the edge of the image to disect the centre of the green dotted lines around the edges of the frame in the theme editor (this helps an accurate resize). Save as a png, and resize to image to the desired resolution.

Here's one i resized from 800x600 to 640x480

Now copy the folder of the theme you want to resize & replace the startbak & bak.png with your resized image. When you open that theme in the editor, you should be able to line up the boxes. The text will also need to be resized + the font size in the gameex config app will need to be decreased in size if your shrinking resolutions, (this can be added into the theme.ini).

(The actual images in the media & logo folder dont need to be resized because gameex does it automatically, so the theme.ini is the only thing that needs to change).

If there are errors when starting up your theme they are most likely down to the size of the menu/list/image boxes, just fiddle around & eventually you'll find a position that fits it all in.

Hope this helps

I'd like to know how to use the "Menu" field with the "PC Games" preset emulator profile.

I'd also like to know if there is a way to change all the layouts at once, instead of editing them 1 by 1 (I am referring to the Emulators layout, not main menus).

LATE EDIT:

Also, even when you change the snap/logo size in the theme editor, it still shows the original size. It's also not saving the changes that I've made in the theme editor. It'll save the different position I put the menu or image field in the actual theme, however, when I load it up in the theme editor again, all changes have not been saved.

Any way to correct this?

Hi Marker, thanks for the bug report. It seems a few people have reported the Theme Editor not saving settings. I will check into it, unfortunately due to a recent virus attack I have needed to re-install everything from scratch on my dev machine. My dev environment has to be set up again before I can compile any fixes.

Second, if you want to use the same layout in several themes, you can copy and paste the layout information contained in the theme's ini file to another file.

Not sure what you mean by "menu" field, again I don't have access to it right now.

Any way to resize the menu? Everytime I try it doesnt change. Aslo can you have different layouts for each background? Like a different layout for start and mame? It seems like they all use the same layout.

Not exactly sure how much resizing the menu object effects the list display in GameEx. This depends on how Tom uses the layout information saved in the Theme's ini file. My guess is that since it uses set font sizes, resizing the menu would only effect the bounding box, not the font size.

At the moment you can't use different layouts for each screen but Tom is constantly adding more support for the Theme Editor, so it's not impossible to think that it might be added in the near future.

http://www.irfanview.com/ I use this tool to resize and change my icons. Easily lets you save a jpg to a png.

You can resize the icons directly in the Theme Editor by either dragging the corner of the logo, or by entering in the Width and Height in the boxes for per pixel accuracy.

You can also easily change logos in the Theme Editor.. for example, you could search for "N64" on Google's image search. When you find a logo you like, just right click it and select "Copy", go into the Theme Editor and select the N64 logo, select the paste icon and it should paste it over the top, then just resize if you want and save. Couldn't be any more easier! :)

If you need to remove the background by making it black, you could of course paste the image into an image editor like Photoshop before and paste it into the Theme Editor. Or you can click the "Edit" button and it will load the default graphic editor set in the Options.

Its a bit of a strange one Tom :)

The toolbar on version 1 themes works perfectly, problems only arise with version 2.

V2 Toolbars: Images taken with media controls enabled & music playing...

Always show:

Works fine

alwaysshowgtgtgtaq8.png

Show When Mouse Over:

The buttons on the left of the toolbar only appear on focus one at a time, media controls aren't visible

showwhenmouse3222222sw7.png

Always Hide:

Shows the whole toolbar, but without any of the buttons working.

What does "not displaying correctly" actualy mean? I mean what happens?

Open Theme Editor. Creat New theme using default v2 800x600. Change start background to anything. Now save and exit. Start GameEx and change themes to the new one you just created. Taskbar no longer works when "only show taskbar when mouse over it" option is on. Taskbar appears to be stretched. Over laps some portions. Missing portions. The theme I just created "Arcade Classic" has this problem. Thx.

Thats because you've accidentally used some toolbar images from a version 1 theme. The dimensions & cut-off points in the images vary between version 1 & 2 themes. Some of toolbar images in your theme are longer than they should be, which has caused the overlap. To fix the strecthing, have a look in the 'Default - Custom V2 Default 800x600' media folder to weed out the bad images.

Thats what I thought. But like I just wrote to Tom. I created a new theme from the v2 default. Only changed the start background and have the taskbar problem. Any ideas?

Having another issue. When I change the emulator background. I continue to have the start background displayed. I open GameEx. Choose emulated games. Yet I still see the start background. Am I doing something wrong?

I figured it out. Seems the background doesnt change till you actually choose a emulator. Any new theme editor updates coming soon? Thx.

I just downloaded GameEx 6.49 and installed it so we're at version 1.51 of the Theme editor. I cannot get the editor to save any changes made. I'm going to go back and read the help file again (which will probably say - saves not included yet - now that I've posted here first), but something seems to be very wrong if it does.

When you change the background it doesnt save? I had that problem. In order for me to fix this. I had to make sure I always resized my image. Even if I was making a theme 800x600. Imported a background that was 800x600. I still had to change it to 800x600 manually.

Thanks Lingpanda, I'll give that a try, making all the background the same size. But yes, I can't get the backgrounds to save for anything as of this moment.

(10 minutes later) That fixed my problem! Thanks Ling! I've been setting up our screens, which is why an edit took me so long! Now we can apply our idea of dragons / unicorns to our menus! :)

Thank you !
