finishes

Not sure this is the right place for a post like this, but there are no other forum sections! (I'd be easier if the gameEx forum had other sections like troubleshooting, cabinets, etc etc...)

I was wondering what people use to finish their cabinets off? I am currently designing a cocktail style one from scratch - I've got the "guts" working with gameEx now - it's all gravy! Just designing the cabinet and I dont know what type of finish to give it.

I'd like it to be primarily black I think - but painted MDF can look naff! I've seen people putting plexiglass, formica, lacquer etc etc... but I am unsure which would be the best - and easiest to do!

any ideas?!

Black laminate. It's expensive at Home Depot (at least where I live) but it's a great finishe. You can also look at the cabinets at mameroom.com. It's an awesome site and you may even be tempted to purchase one of their cabinet kits :-)
