I downloaded a huge torrent of avi. video snaps from emumovies and put them in the correct directory and it just still displays the picture snaps. I also downloaded Shark007 codec pack as many people suggested for the video snaps... But still, nothing plays. I'm stumped.

Hi logan

After you've been here for a bit you'll notice a pattern in which we moderators start sounding like broken records when we ask, "Please post a copy of your GameEx.ini and a copy of your log (after having experienced the error described)" Having a look at this information gives us a good toehold to (potentially) see what's happening, and in turn provide better and more informed suggestions as to troubleshooting procedures. Otherwise it starts to dissolve into a guessing game of, "Try this, now try that, then try the first thing again, etc." ;)

Please refer to this thread which contains some really good information regarding how to access the above information.

Thank You!

Hi Logan - you are half way there! If you would kindly provide your log.txt file that will complete the information we will need to start assisting you with resolving your display errors. Thanks!

In reviewing this I am not seeing anything wrong. I would ask that you confirm that the files you acquired have been extracted to the correct image paths as noted in the log file. If you discover that where the files are is different that what shows in your log.txt, please correct and lets go from there.

Posted

Yea, The path in the log is correct. 00:47:50.6 10/7/2012: AVI Snap Path is: G:\emulators\MAMEUI32_0.147_17-09-2012\video snaps

If gameEX detects video snaps it takes priority over the pictures, yes? Which obviously isn't happening :( They are just standard avi. files that if i put in the demo/attract video folder they play fine as a screensaver, so I know they are good and gameEX is reading them. I am having this problem on both 32 and 64 bit version of MAME on 2 separate machines so something is up somewhere.

Posted

Obvious question, but it needs to be asked: Do the the names of your video snaps match the names of your rom files exactly?

Less obvious question: There are a couple different versions of the Shark007 Codec Pack. It might be worth verifying that you got the correct version for your operating system. Also be aware that you'll need the 64 bit components in addition to the codec pack if you're running a 64 bit operating system. (Install the codec pack first, then install the 64 bit components).
