I've been playing around with XBMC and it's all fancy and everything, but I find the emulation support severely lacking. How I've been doing it for a long time now is XBMC for movies and all that, GameEX for gaming. But, if possible, I'd like to get it down to one frontend, so I've got a few questions about GameEX that I haven't been able to find answers for, specifically this - in XBMC, I can have videos from RSS feeds that pop up in the "Video" section. News programs, The Daily Show, etc etc. Is this at all possible in GameEX?

Drac's links here use the Pheedo namespace: http://www.pheedo.com/namespace/pheedo

Interesting... I see these are based on RSS 2.0 anyhow, shouldn't be hard to add. :)

Here's the Top Viewed formatted as xml for you to check out if you're interested (maybe save you a step?)

Yeah they are just regular RSS feeds. There is no direct link to the actual video so its really not on the cards right now I am afraid. XBMC does some clever stuff to extract the actual video.

I was interested in investigating this but it seems like all they do is regex out the You-Tube link from the HTML tags. Nothing too groundbreaking there. :)

Would be nice though if you could add a link to the full story in the RSS Reader Crawler that displays on menus... Maybe? :)

Yeah there not all youtube links though. That wouldn't be a problem. The rss reader should already allow you to open up the web page no?

Do you mean show the links under the videos section? Please explain further what you are thinking. I might be able to do something.

No I was off-topic. :)

Like when I launch GameEx it shows an RSS for Spesoft under the list on the first menu (its a crawler on the start page you added in). I was saying maybe you click the story (or in this case the changelog) and it goes to the full story link in the RSS schema.

I'll look again at the xml-formatted example above but I was pretty sure I saw a node for the video? Maybe not.

You could crawl the string on a thread, sure... But I'm willing to bet sooner rather than later they'll be upgrading the RSS feeds to point to videos anyhow... and maybe add in social media feeds and ditch the HTML and namespace BS altogether. Ahh someday!

I see what dude was getting at here but I really don't see the benefit to it when you can just go to "news" and see the video via the full story. If I wanted the latest updates on CNN I wouldn't want to thumb through extra videos in my list any more than I'd wanna paw through 70 news videos to watch 21 Jump Street reruns and Uncle Buck.
