GameEx purely for MAME

Hi people,

Im trying to install GameEx purely for MAME and have read the FAQ and come across the following question -

Q "Is there a quick, good and easy way just to make GameEx purely for MAME without individually turning off all the features I dont need?"

A "Yes, when installing GameEx select the option to set up purely as a MAME plugin or only for games"

I cannot see this option anywhere when going through the set up wizard? Can anybody help please?

I've never tried myself but in my GameEx start menu entry, under the 'Other Versions' folder there is a 'GameEx Lite (MAME Only)' option.

I had a look last night and your right, under 'other versions' there is a GameEx (MAME) and also a Lite version.

Problem is, I cannot see anyway to configure them at all? When you click on one of them, they start-up, but empty without any ROMS as nothing has been configured?

That's not true. Setup Wizard is the "general" configuration utility for all versions of GameEx. You have to configure MAME with Setup Wizard, and then update the list (in the full GameEx Version). Once you have done this, you can use GameEx for MAME as you desire.

I have got GameEX full version working fine and it loads the ROM's etc.

However, there's too much interface and all im wanting it to see if, when I launch GameEx, literally a list of just the MAME ROM's I have installed with a snap of each.

So, as I already have the full GameEx working, id assume from what your saying, that the MAME only version is already configured? But it's not, it just opens up blank?

Apologies if im not getting something here, obviously I dont really have any experience with GameEx yet.

You could always use custom menus to just make your mame the only thing on the list. And obviously the roms.

To get the snaps you will have to assign it in the setup wizard.

Yes, you're right, and evidently something is not right here. As a usual procedure, please attach GameEx.ini (in GameEx\CONFIG directory) and the log (in GameEx\LOG), so that we can see what's happening. To attach files you have to use the "More Reply Options" button.

Have you installed MAME outside of GameEx and input MAME settings with the Setup Wizard? Yiou still have to utilize the Wizard and do some input of paths, etc. regardless fr using the Lite or full version of GameEx.

Please provide copies of the files Alpha has requested if you have everything setup as I noted above. Thanks!
