TheScAtMaN
Hi thereBeen trying out GameEx on my laptop with good results and am now trying to get it installed on my media centre PC in the living room.I am getting a strange problem on the media centre pc that ever time GameEx is launched, after the notice screen, the program mimimises to the task bar and up pops MameEmuMap magician. I click ok or cancel on that and then restore the game ex window. It displays but with a pause ever 8 or so seconds followed by the windows unplugged device sound -like you have just plugged in a usb drive or something. This practically makes it unusable. This happens when lauched from withtin media centre or by itself. What can I do to stop MameEmMap comig up and why am I getting the hardware notification sound? The PC has a ATI Radeon 4550 Graphics card connected by HDMI to a plasma screenHope you can help! Draco1962
Did you perform a new install or just a copy over from your laptop? A copy of your gameex.ini file and log.txt (under \gameex\config\ and \gameex\log\ paths respectively) may be helpful to us in assisting you. Thanks! Draco1962
I am showing that you have version 12.78 installed. Would you mind downloading and installing the latest version 12.79 and reporting back any errors (will require a new log.txt. file)? Also, once you download and install the latest version, you need to setup your MAME paths. Per your log file, they are not setup correct as confirmed by the following lines:22:22:37.9 23/08/2012: MAME Path is: C:\GameEx22:22:37.9 23/08/2012: MAME EXE file is: Mame Mapping Magician.exeKeep in mind that you can install your emulators via the initial installation of GameEx, but you are going to have to configure each emulator to run outside of GameEx first, then modify MAME other emulator settings and file paths through the Setup Wizard in GameEx. Once you have all of this squared away, we can further assist with additional troubleshooting. As nice as it would be to have GameEx to automagically setup and install everything for us, being that it is a frontend software and not an emulator, you will have to do some more work to get Mame (and other emulators) running properly inside and out.
TheScAtMaN
Thanks Draco. Took your advice and downloaded the latest version, got MAME working outside of GameEx and checked my paths were all correct and now it launches just fine.I am missing many of my MAME roms in GameEx when compared with the list I have within MAME. I have tried made sure only working was unticked and not to verify roms when scanning but it is still missing a few. Also I have Model 2 emulator installed and have told game ex to use it and have checked the path is correct. When launching a Model2 title I hear the sudio but only get a black screen, I have to Esc to get back to GameEx. Model2 runs the game fine when launched on its own. Draco1962
Keep in mind that with MAME, while you might have ROMs for the more recent builds, not all ROMs are going to be available through GameEx or MAME for that matter. There are a lot of clones (which you may want to have enabled BTW in addition to allowing for imperfect). Mechanical (slots, pinball, etc) ROMS are automatically excluded by GameEx. Adultery
You also need to set your Model2 emu to use Direct3D I think. Been awhile since I set that up.Your MAME version may not be the same as your rom set... something to bear in mind. Edited September 24, 2012 by Draco1962 This thread is now closed.
