[ATTN: TOM] Karaoke - Only previews?

I've searched all around including youtube. I've loaded a couple of songs into my Karaoke folder. Inside GameEx, when I click on the song, the screen goes black and brings me back to the preview page.

Did you download the optional karaoke support when you installed GameEx?

Yes.

Maybe its something with the DirectX not launching the player. I could not find that file anywhere to install again from a previous GameEx install from last week.

Yes, Videos load and play.

Actually, thew screen goes black and brings me back to the menu screen for Karaoke or MAME depending on which category I was in.

Hmm ... I'm thinking your MAME issue may be separate from your karaoke issue. Do you have MAME running outside of GameEx? Would you mind uploading a copy of your GameEx.ini? It's can be found under your GameEx installation directory in the following location by default:

C:\GameEx\CONFIG\ GameEx.ini

Regarding the karaoke issue, have you double checked that DXKaraoke is installed?

Checks that DXKaraoke is installed, otherwise gives the option to install.

I'm also having problems with karaoke. I uninstalled karaoke for DX, reinstalled it etc. and I was finally able to get karaoke to play outside of GameEx by unzipping the files (mp3 + cdg) and associating the cdg file with WMP. On my W7 32-bit arcade cab in GameEx I get the same results when I try to play a zipped or unzipped karaoke files as tjpietro. I put GameEx on another computer (W7 64-bit) and when I play karaoke on that one it goes to a blank screen and when escape is pressed it goes to desktop with GameEx minimized. Odd thing is on both machines the karaoke files play during the preview in GameEx. Just saw the post and wanted to help; I'll post my ini and log when I get home.

Howdy, I hope you don't mind the bump but I'm still having problems with karaoke. I hate to exit GameEx to play my karaoke files. Is there another way to play karaoke in GameEx? Possibly another free third party program someone’s tested.

Sty151 - sorry for the delay in response. If you would please, download the latest version of GameEx and install it on your PC. You are presently showing as using version 12.61 and we are now at 12.79. Next, please provide a new copy of the log file from immediately after you attempt to play one of your files following the installation of the latest version.

Also, please confirm your path is setup correctly and advise if this is a networked share or local to your PC.

I did find an issue with queue mode which is fixed in the attached but that does not explain the black screen, sorry.

Thanks for the help. I didn't mean to sound pushy. I attached an older version of my log file. Here's the most recent with 12.80. All I did was try to play several karaoke files and then exited. I checked the file path and it is a networked drive. But I also moved my karaoke files to my C drive and changed the path and got the same results. Let me know if I can do anything else.

@sty151 - Did you install the file provided by Tom in this thread or upgrade to the latest version? If so, was this issue resolved for you?

I upgraded to the latest version (12.80 at the time) which I thought included the fix Tom provided in this thread. I am still having the same issues. I can try the zip file provided by Tom if you think it will help.

I updated to 12.83 last night and still had the same issue. The karaoke plays audio and video during the preview when I hover over a file's name but when I pick one it stops, goes to a blank screen, as if it's about to start, and then instantly goes back to the list of karaoke files as if I’d exited. Even makes the sound. Let me know if I can do anything else.

@Tom - I reviewed the log files and something just seems odd with how the karaoke file is not loading. I am at work and cannot compare it to my own at present, but is there a possibility that the Op may have the karaoke files stored on a network share drive and that being an issue?

@Sty - Is your Z: drive a network share?

Yes, my Z: drive is a network share. But I also moved a copy of my karaoke files to my desktop and reset GameEx to look there and got the same problem. Let me know if you'd like a log file of that as well.

Ive had a look at this. I cant duplicate the issue here with the ini provided. Its a machine specific thing and its not going to be easy for me to fix unfortunately. Sorry.

Thanks to both you and Draco1962 for looking into this for us. I always seem to get the weird bugs. If there's something else I can do please let me know. I'd like to test my machine. Just to make sure I'm with everyone else can someone else tell me how they play .cdg+.mp3 files without GameEx. To get them to play I unzipped the two files and "open with" Windows Media Player the .cdg file. Am I supposed to open with a different program?
