Hopefully they will be "biting the pillow" real soon. As for karma, it does come around. Sometimes it isn't right away, but it does come around.

Had a brief update from the police, laptop was tracked this morning 15 miles from my area, somebody had tried to pawn it, it was tracked because the store tested it, the stupid idiots gave their membership card so they could get cash for it,but didnt realise their address is registered, ha ha morons.

Cash that was stolen, I found behind my garage, they must have dropped it, im just missing jewellery :@ but my mrs said some of the jewellery is engraved.

On closer inspection I have also noticed that my 256gb flash drive is missing, this has all my Emumovies media on it but can easily be downloaded again.

Atleast some good has come of the situation :)

Keep us posted! Curious to know if it is someone you know or that had been by your home previously.

Sad none the less that someone works hard for something they desire and others don't or hardly work at all and take what they desire. Wait! That sounds like a politician!

Well, I've just found out who they are, and guess what? It is somebody I know, well kind of anyway.

They are my cousin's girlfriends not so close relatives. They knew I had alot of games and stuff because they cane round to a barbecue a while back. Scum of the earth.

The disappointing thing is they're only 14 and 15 so lucky for them they can't get shafted in the shower, but will most likely get fined alot and lots of community service, anti social behavior orders, ankle tags and possibly a youth offenders institute.

Got the laptop but it's water damaged. Don't know how that happened but luckily for me a new laptop is on its way, jewellery has been returned aswell.

I’m really glad to hear that your important items have (or will) be returned, and that justice shall be done. That sucks about the laptop, but it’s good to hear that you’ll receive a new one soon. It always sucks to hear about younger lads getting into this sort of crap. Hopefully an early exposure to justice will set them on the right track in the future.

At any rate, I’m glad this is having a reasonable outcome for you Ray. It sucks that it happened in the first place, but thanks to some diligence and foresight on your part it seems that everything will work out OK.

90% of problems in my life outside of my control have to do with family (close and extended). Sorry to hear that it turned out that way. I don't know how your insurance will work with regards to the laptop, but, if possible, you may be able to save the HDD and either recover anything you need for backup and format over it and use it as an external backup drive (enclosures are cheap and plentiful). I am glad that they were able to recover most of it for you. I think the little buggers need a stint working some community service some place that will stick in their memories for a long, long time.

Awesome news man! Sucks you do know who they where and that they where also underage. Hopefully they learn from this and a big dose of reality sets them straight.

Thanks guys,

Got a meeting with their parents tomorrow, got to give them an inventory as some stuff is still missing. But I've spoken to their parents over the phone and they are very apologetic. Which is a good thing I think .

Ha! This brought back a memory for me. When I was younger I had a minor brush with the law which ended with my friends and me serving community service.

(Don’t worry we didn’t steal anything. It was actually the result of skateboarding where we weren’t supposed to. Crucially this was in Wyoming during the 80’s when skateboarding most assuredly was a crime.)

Our assigned duty was to clean up livestock stalls during the county fair, which mainly consisted of the shoveling and carting of all manner of animal manure. That definitely stuck in my memory for a long time! (Although didn’t really deter us from skateboarding, which I suppose is noteworthy. In the days when skateboarding was outlawed, only outlaws rode skateboards …)

That's good. In all honesty I would imagine that getting caught has them scared fairly s**tless. Hopefully that means this will be the end of their criminal careers, although it really sucks that this happened to you in the first place.

It's got to have scared them as they thought they weren't going to get caught, but know they have been caught I bet they are regretting every action they took.

I hope they get everything thrown at them to teach them a lesson once and for all.

At 14-15 years of age, the apology should come from the kids. When I was growing up and I did something bad (i.e. winging some discarded Carpenters LPs like frisbees only to have one of them break and stick in the vinyl roof of a neighbor's Caddy ) we had to do something to help that person out to repay our debts. When I was able to stand (about a week later after my dad's punishment wore off), I had to help them with chores around the house, emptying and scrubbing out their garbage pales, vacuuming out the car I assaulted, etc. for a few weeks. I am sure the labor I performed did not cover the cost of repairing that vinyl roof, but the lesson I learned was priceless.

Draco,

You bring back memories of being punished, I remember my dad giving me money for a new school bag but instead i purchased Wrestlemania 8 on video, When he found out he gave me chores for weeks and made carry my stuff to school in a brown paper bag, I was so embarassed.

A lesson learned for me.

Wow, it's either somebody completely random looking for anything to make a cheap buck, or somebody you know who knows what you have and want it. Doesn't make sense to sell the laptop to a pawn shop though. If I stole a laptop from somebody I knew, I'd keep it, wipe it clean, then keep it for myself. It's also cool that you got the jewellery back as well, especialy if it was momento's.. It does suck that you can't really get much justice out of minors though. Still, you're getting your stuff back, you know who it was, and everything seems cool. I just hope when their "TIME" is up, they don't go reckless and start going after you guys again for more stuff or worse.

When I was that age, I got caught steeling from a bookstore. For punishment, they made me pay back 3X the value of the stolen goods. They also filed charges where I had to go to court. Since I was underage, it was a petty misdemeanor, but nevertheless there was a criminal spot on my record. By agreeing to say I was guilty, I was let off with a warning, but had to prove I was mature enough to get a job and hold that job full-time for 6 months. They subsequently erased the criminal charge on my record so I'm clean now. But all-in-all, that's all it took. Get busted once, pay for the crime, you never do it again and I've been a good boy since. It just wasn't worth it.
